Can you imagine Wlad keeping his great condition he's in now, and unloading on these amateurs for 3 rounds. Lol Two time Gold winner indeed :good

Amateurs are a great training experience for up and comers transitioning to the pro's. Having tourneys laced with PROFESSIONALS defeats the purpose and could totally ruin some up and comers.

If somebody can beat his ass before 2016 that will put an end to this foolishness.

Not a fan of this idea at all, I like seeing young prospects honing their craft in the amateurs, it's totally unfair. But if they were to allow pros they should have all the best most dangerous ranked fighters face eachother, not just a "select few", no ducking.

Not anymore. Usyk is fighting in the WSB and beating super heavies with ease. The power puncher Medzhidov who beat up Joshua to win the worlds in 2011 fought Usyk and wasn't anywhere near his level.

'Amateur' and 'professional' are misnomers in boxing. The top amateurs can put a beating on 99% of professional fighters. I think the pros have the disadvantage in this situation. Faster fights with only three rounds to put in your work. Boxing is boxing and the pros competing will be playing the game the amateurs are used to, no picking and choosing of opponents and no fighting once every 6 months. Do you think the amateurs are just a training experience for the Cubans, Russians, Kazahks, Ukrainians? I think more 'pros' will be getting toyed with and ruined over 3 rounds than the other way round.

The head coach for Ukraine's national team Dmytro Sosnovskiy said that if pros can fight at the 2016 games and Klychko and Usyk both want to compete that Klychko won't just be given a spot. He'll have to earn it and prove he's better than Usyk.

You think Usyk could've earned a shot against Klit in the pro game by 2016? They could have a pro and amateur rivalry going on at the same time, a first for the sport :yep

Right, everybody who qualifies can compete. I think this should have been for many years now, most other sports are full pros the best in the biz, while Olympic boxing has become a joke over the years.
It would make wining the gold much more prestigious. You can't just get it anymore by fighting for the home country.
