Does anyone have anything bad to say about DLH, Or was he perfect??

Some DLH fans will always him losing to Mosley, Tito, Manny, Mayweather ,Hopkins, and most of them have a point being DLH did ose all his biggest fight, but we are talkin about a true champ who throughout his career fought everybody.( Up until the 8th round DLH was given Tito a boxing lesson)...In my opinion one of the best WW's of all time!...

I like Oscar, but he did fade at times when he should have accelerated. The big problem was identity confusion. He couldn't seem to decide whether he wanted to box or slug, and constantly switching trainers probably didn't help.

That said, I remember once when Vernon Forrest was a guest on FNF. He offered a very detailed, cogent argument about why he felt Oscar could have stopped Tito in their fight if he'd fought more agressively. I'm not saying that's a given, but I do think that Oscar could have dominated that fight even more thoroughly with a hungrier attitude.

 

So underrated. So skilled and endowed with uncommon intangibles. People took Oscar for granted.

He was a media darling that was well packaged and well managed and was not really risked until the Whitaker fight and then not again in a competitive fight till 99

It must also be remembered That we are not talking about a prime Whitaker . We could well be talking a whitaker affected in the ring by possible drug use outside of it . so its really not as good a win as it may look to some on paper for de la hoya . And remember it was a close fight , Whitaker also had a few fights after but never managed another win

 

I don't think Oscar would have cut it in the 15 round era.

 

I always thought he should have stayed at 140. He might have been unbeatable. But the big fights were at 147, and for some reason for Oscar 140 to 147 was a huge jump.. More than I thought it would be.

 

I think he had stamina issues, he usually fought in spurts rather than fight at a high pace. He also could be a bit stiff.

Other than that he has great attributes, great left hook and jab, great speed, rangy and very quick feet.

He would have been too drained at 140, as he was coming into the ring at 160 in some fights. 147 was a perfect weight for him I think
