It was a huge jump. Just look at the size of Quartey on fight night compared to Oscar. The difference is crazy, Quartey was huge. Trinidad too.

De La Hoya's original move up to welterweight to fight Whitaker was for money. Nothing to do with struggling to make 140lbs. Emanuel Steward said that when he started training De La Hoya after the Whitaker fight that was still a natural light-welterweight.

Whitaker admitted after the fight that he performed as well as a 33 year fighter could. I also thought his speed was close to the prime welterweight Whitaker who fought the likes of Chavez and McGirt 3-4 years earlier.

It was massive win for De La Hoya, even though it was close.

Whitaker by that time was slipping and I can't remember to many boxers after a very close loss talking their efforts down or admitting possible very bad life style choices

Yup. Very rarely do you see a young up and coming star take on a top 2 P4P fighter in their first fight at a new weight.

    Helluva win.

Whitaker's speed and reflexes were as good as they had been in years. Yeah, Whitaker spiralled out of control after the De La Hoya loss. He looked anything but a fighter who was slipping that night. I do admit that he looked poor in the first Rivera fight. But against De La Hoya he was pretty much as bang on.

Rob, Butt has been on an anti-Oscar crusade for awhile, best to just pay him no mind.

    Mr.butthurt ,

You were quite sore of Oscar being in the top 100 and did everything you could to get him out of it. You don't hide it well

No I don't really mind but I do think he's to high on that list .I can't say it bothers me at all really its just a list .unlike yourself who seems to act like a school girl with crush when anyone says bad things about the object of their desire. Perhaps you should write to Oscar and ask him to send you a few pics and a container of his sperm so you could look at the pics and have a drink to help you relax a little
