    Yes it is.

    People forget that antares originally designed it to correct imperfections, not to be used as a fancy effect. To get the 'T-pain effect' you have to sing massively 'off' to get the effect to be noticable and the notes to slide. If you're reasonably close to the note you won't hear it unless you know what you're listening for. They were using it.
