Boring, terrible for showtime

Great night of boxing everyone that was supposed to win did.
How did SHOWTIME lose again??

 

If he fights someone like Sergio he has an excuse for fighting a safety first fight and even a narrow points victory would be a great performance. But against this guy? That was just pathetic.

A boring main event with Santa Cruz fight the best of the night.I am glad my friend bought the fight and not myself.Mayweather act getting old and boring.

 

They paid $32000000 for Floyd to stink out the place against a bum :rofl

I'm a showtime fan but they lost with this one.

 

I agree with most of this although it wasn't one dimensional. Floyd looked very fluid and was adapting well. Sure, he ran a lot. I don't think his legs are as great as they used to be, hence the running rather than fighting at close range for prolonged periods. His handspeed and upper body and head movement however was very impressive, as fast as ever, hasn't slowed down at all.

Watching Rigo was watching a complete masterclass and being amazed by the level of specialism that Rigo was able to show against a future hall of famer and P4P fighter. It was great to watch.

In recent years, Floyd's fights have been entertaining but this was so boring. I actually felt concerned for the fans.

 

Robert Guerrero is no bum. He did better against Mayweather than Marquez did and never got discouraged or knocked down.

It was actually a very entertaining fight to watch as you see Mayweather adjustiing to Guerrero's style for about 2 rounds. After 2 rounds Mayweather starts peppering him with right hands for the rest of the fight and puts his amazing footwork on display effortlessly pivoting away from the ropes and using smart clinching. Beautiful boxing once again from Mayweather.

How can you not be amazed by a man who cannot be hit cleanly in the face in an enclosed space for 36 minutes?

I definitely think Floyd looked one-dimensional, if he didn't hurt his hand it would've been jog, potshot with the right for all twelve rounds. When he hurt his hand he at least attempted to use the uppercut and hook at times (however didn't look too sharp with those punches). A fighter as good as Floyd against a fighter like RG should be throwing a variety of combinations and showcasing his skills, not staying out of range and potshotting the plodding RG with his right when he can to steal rounds.

 

It was all things great from Mayweather, but entertaining it most certainly wasn't. It was beautiful boxing, but even for hardcore boxing fans not the casual ones, this was not fun to watch.

Mayweather doesn't have the trash talking anymore that made him a star, nor the top opponents like Oscar, Hatton, Corrales and Castillo that made him a star.

 

Are people actually surprised by this?

 

It was his gameplan to be like that, not engaging because he didn't want to take any more beatings at his old age, that's fair but it makes for some boring fights in the future unfortunately.

 

I've got a dvd of a great fight to sell you. Mayweather vs Baldomir, another classic. Guerrero is B grade at best, Marquez was new to the weight when he fought Floyd and he was bloated instead of strength trained like in Pac 4.

It wasn't entertaining, if Mayweather did that against an opponent that posed a threat it would be entertaining. Hit and not get hit depends on your opponent, Floyds 'hit and not get hit' against Gatti was perfect. Against a guy of Guerreros talent it should've been a copy of that fight, not the Baldomir fight.

Rigondeaux vs Donaire was amazing, this fight was amazing like watching an olympic champion spar with someone who walked in off the street and doesn't want to get touched under any circumstances. Mayweather deserved those boos and more.
