You can appreciate May's boxing all you want, and he's great, but in boxing, as well as in all other sports, competitiveness is what makes a fight fun. Why do you guys think that people loved the Cotto fight much more than this? Blow outs aren't as fun, period. Unless you are like Mike Tyson. I'm a huge Manny fan, and the fourth fight vs Marquez is one of my favs of him, even though he got ktfo, the fight had everything. For example, May's performance vs Marquez was amazing, but monotonous, predictable, and 0 drama. You can appreaciate the boxing only so much, after a while, it gets boring.
Floyd fought an excellent fight. Guerreros gameplan was to try and get floyd on the ropes and in the corner. Mayweather showed sublime footwork, was extremely elusive and fired off right hands when ever guerrero got near. Because of his footwork whenever Guerrero fired off a shot, Floyd was able to avoid it and move out. Boring fight in terms of action, but an absolute boxing masterclass none the less
Hit and don't get hit. boxing is an art and Floyd is a Master at it. What the hell was he suppose to do? Let Robert hit on him.
well Cotto is also a much better fighter then Guerrero. Floyd fought a boring fight ,but guerrero barely did anything. We all knew Guerrero would be the one who needed to make the fight, and he didn't show up.
He stood in front of the guy many times ,the ghost had no answer for it. Floyd makes everyone look bad ,he could very well be the best fighter of all times. When he fights ESB posters say the same old things time after time and lets face it the man is an artist.
Floyd carved this dude up, and Ghost will be back and will beat many more good fighters, he just fought the best...who hasn't looked this way against Floyd?
Yet people still buy his fights. It's true that people want "exciting" fights. It's also true that people want to see a master craftman do his work.
I'm with you. Every fight of him, there's one round where I say to myself, it's over, every round will be exactly like this from now on. When he starts landing his lead right consistently, it is all over. But again, you can only watch it for so long, the other guy has to do something to make it a little exciting. I'm not talking **** about Floyd but the argument that "you don't appreciate boxing" when someone says the fight was boring is not a good one. In any sports, blow outs will never ever be as fun as close dramatic matches/fights. I used to like the Heat with Wade and only Wade, now, it's boring, no drama. I'll still watch Floyd, but $60 man? No way, I'd pay 20 max.
