I have a boxing coach, been going a few years, at first got beat in sparring, but now beat most lads sparring now, even though I know I'm probs an average fighter.

So I tried a new club, and the teaching training seemed alot better.

Haven't told coach 1 that I'm training with someone new, coach 2 isn't concerned that I'm training with coach 1

I go to the first coach because my kids go as well, should I stick with both ?

Should I tell coach 1 I'm training with someone else also ?

I wouldnt tell him. He doesnt need to know, and he'd likely wonder why you felt the need to go to another coach

If you feel youre still getting something out of coach 1, and the kids are happy there, then keep it going

Customer is always right. If asked tell him - best not to lie, good way of deflecting if asked say work / travelling has changed.

Seen this scenario quite a few times, some trainers react good, some bad.

Golden rule of mine - if they react bad leave, cut all ties and go to a new coach.:deal

True, some lads have been there ten years, I've been going two years, I caught them up fast and I'm no Floyd Mayweather.

So thought it must be the coaching, how did the bad reactions go ? A good trainer shouldn't care if you try new gyms IMO.

yeah, I don't know why any amauter coach would care... My trainers would often times encourage us to go to other gyms to get additional sparring/training.

If your coach has put time an effort into you over a number of years I think the least you can do is be honest with him

its whats best of you that counts,,,it doesn't take long to catch boxers up learning the BASICs in the gym ,,its more important to gain experience competing ,only then you realize what standard of boxer you are ,,boxing the lads in the gym should only be training & learning different ways of understanding your opponents

if you are competing ,,& not learning from you coach then try another
if not competing then try out other gyms

i wouldn't recommend having 2 coach's at different gyms it could mess your head up

Well we spar and I'm having no trouble putting lads under pressure, land shots and not get hit back.

I think the boxers I'm sparring with are no good, but the coach does not give us tips on how to throw combo's etc and my defence was not that tight.

New trainer has tightened my defence already.

I think my coach used to love the sport but just wants the cash now from subs.

Boxing isn't a real good cash flow business, for the most part.
