Mayweather has taken plenty of challenges and made it look it easy because he's just a cut above everyone else.

what part of reason is beyond your grasp? are there no challenges? because apparently there are some above 147 a division Mayweather campaigned at. I will give you the moves that would add serious cred to the Mayweather legacy:

    Pac
    Canelo
    Trout
    Martinez
    Golovkin

maybe Golovkin is a stretch but if Robinson can fight early Lamotta and give away 20 pounds or Maxim at LHeavy, Duran fought Barkley leonard fought Lalonde, Pac fought Margo then why not? Mayweather should be great enough to pull it off you would think

I love SRL he is my second fav of all time after Ali. However, he had his detractors at the time:
    1) they said he duck Pryor (that was purely a business decision not to fight him)
    2) they say that he ran in the second Duran fight (he just made the adjustment he should have made in the first fight but didn't because he wanted to KO Duran for being an ass [Duran played brilliant mind games prior to the first fight])
    3) he waited until MMH got old and really lost despite the fact that Hagler gave into all his demands
    4) he refused to give MMH a rematch
    5) the belt at SMW meant nothing because it was not really a division
    6) he lost to hearns the second time around
    7) he beat a very weak titlist in Lalonde for his LHW belt
    8) at age 35 he finally fought a young elite fighter again in Norris and got hammered.

did he take challanges . . . yes, but it was a different era were and the fighters were much better. so of course he had to take challenges to make good money.

You have to understand there are Mayweather fans and boxing fans the boxing fan wants to see the most exciting match possible. The Mayweather fan wants to see Mayweather.

Mayweather started at SFW and is a small man who fought and beat the top guy at JMW 2x already. He is getting up in age, past his prime with fragile hands . . . how many more challenges does he have to jump over for you to stop hatin?

Depends on how objective you want to be. The hardcore Floyd fans put maximum spin on every fighter he's faced since Chico. For those who want to approach the issue objectively, it's impossible to gloss over the fact that he avoided his stiffest competition when they appeared most threatening. You have to rate him alongside many of the all-time-greats in terms of skills, but what separates guys like the Sugar Rays and Hearns from Floyd is that the former actually sought out the toughest guys they could fight. Floyd never did.

You obviously didn't watch boxing in that era. And you're pretty biased yourself.

Sought the toughest guys? Ray Leonard flat out ran from a Hagler fight for years until Hagler began to fade.

DLH was not the top guy at 154, and Cotto only was on paper. If you want the bragging rights of having beaten "the top guy at JMW 2x already", you really should be willing to take on all comers at the weight, especially if some of these are more marketable/anticipated than anything at 147.

the guy is naturally smaller man and is taking on challenges. the only challenge out there are elite fighters who outweigh him by 20-30 pounds. all the fighters you listed above did not fight the top guys who outweighed them by that much. Now, SRL, Hearns and Duran's record **** all over his and anyones record since them but they fought in a different era. AN era that I think that boxing was at its absolute best

Floyd never would have fought somebody of Hagler's caliber. Let's get that out there first.

Second, and why you're full of ****, it's tough to be accused of running from one of the greatest middleweight champions of all time when you're a goddamn welterweight. And don't forget, Leonard was retired for nearly three years before he took that fight. :deal

Funny, people accuse Floyd of ducking Martinez all the time.

I meant to say arguable the top guys at 154. the point I embolden i silly, SRL fought Lalonde at 168 for his 175 belt and never fought at that weight again. There is no reason to have to stay in a division because you fought there a couple of times. Floyd came it at 151 both fights and clearly is not a JMW so who says that is some unwritten rule of boxing
