Well tszyu was inactive mainly due to multiple surgeries so really there wasn't a frame where the fight could've happened. Showtime wanted that judah-tszyu-mitchell tourney for whatever reason.

    That was for belt unifications.

Floyd only took a belt that had been stripped from tzsyu.

Corley, Gatti, Brusseles, Mitchell. Any time during that stretch the fight would have been feasible.

Not when Tszyu was recovering from surgery the whole time. Mitchell was at 147 after Tszyu was done.

Not that it matters. Floyd was never the number 1 in the division and I bet if politics didnt strip tzsyu he'd have found a way of making the fight.

Possibly, and everybody should envision choppier waters with Alvarez, but then Floyd is great at making fighters perform like they're having an off-night, whether it's competitive (Oscar) or not (Marquez).

Floyd Mayweather is a top 3 ATG at the very least. I think personally he is just about the greatest of all time, the Sugar Ray Robinson fight is a toss up.

He could not even beat 'Sugar light' Leonard!

He was a decent Jouneyman, a good test to see if you had the potential to make it.

As for Lil Floyd; an excellent fighter, who for the moment would sit in the bottom half of a top 50 for me.

Take into consideration Robinson went 40-0 in the first two year of his career, with wins over Mandell, Zivic and Servo, and you'll see why he didn't have to do too much more to surpass Floyd.

He didn't have loads of divisions and extra titles to claim belts in, otherwise he may well have won 'World' titles from lightweight to super middleweight.

Anyway, as it stands his next undefeated streak went on for what...70-80-odd fights! And although it's deep, all I need to say is that it included two wins over Kid Gavilan and undisputed Welter and Middleweight titles.

Okay, Floyd was no.1 in three divisions. He has been a brilliant fighter and is no doubt an all time great.

But he does not compare to Ray Robinson for quality, and in a fight between the two it's hard to see what Floyd brings to the table against genuine two-fisted puncher with handspeed, iron chin, intelligence, offensive variety etc etc etc

That's not a slight on Floyd, you'd be hard pressed to think of any welterweight that would start a bout with Robinson the favourite.

He was never gonna beat Hatton so he probably made the right choice.

I'm saying that had he been number 1 it would have legitimised his title claim. That was the point I initially made. The 5 division champ stuff is a bit misleading.

It is misleading but I don't know many that rate him on the whole 5 division champ thing..same with Leonard, Oscar, Jones etc.
