Does anyone have anything bad to say about DLH, Or was he perfect??

Yes he did!..

 

Great fighter, but due to various reasons not quite the sum of his parts, so to speak.

Maybe if he had a little more confidence in who he was as a fighter, he could've put it all together and been even better.

But the unreasonably high level of competition probably didn't help. Not in this era of fighting. I think anyone of a similar size would pick up a loss or two at least against his competition. Especially against 'Soapy'. Ballsy fight to take, that one.

Didn't need "great" upper body movement with an iron chin and crazy power. Just watch the Trinidad fight, his head movement isn't even that bad

 

It would have been an asset to him though, he did have good lateral movement i must admit, could stick and move with the best of them when he was on his game. His tendency to switch off during fights and ignore his gameplan is a a more worrying one, see the Quartey, Oba Carr, Mayweather, Mosley, and indeed the championship rounds in the Trinidad fight.

 

Mosley is a bad example..DLH did everything wrong in those fights.

 

Mosley was on roids anyways.

 

So it's a bad example of the flaws sport was mentioning.....yet he did EVERYTHING wrong.

Think about that for a second.

 

As for Oscar i think he was a really good fighter from 135-147.A borderline great type in a very solid era for most of that region of weightclasses.

Above that he was pretty unspectacular and i'd have him losing to a lot of fighters more comfortable\bigger there that didn't necessarily have the overall career he had.

Oscar didn't have the best trainer early in his career, until they brought Jesus Rivero aboard. He was creating a masterpiece- Oscar was 8-0 with 6kos with Rivero, including the Whitaker and Gonzalez fights. But 'they', the money guys, decided his style was too boring. So they brought on Emmanuel Stewart and then Gil Clancy to make him more exciting. Those two, Gil and Manny, if they had any integrity, would have turned in their HOF plaques for the mess they made of DLH, just destroying all that Rivero had accomplished.

 

SSM , Sweet Pea, Ike & Tito were all great WW around at the same time & Oscar beat three of them (2 close bouts)
