When Floyd traded with Cotto and stood in the pocket more people say that his legs are shot and he is on the decline. When Mayweather boxes beautifully and uses his legs more, people say the fight is boring. No matter what he does people will discredit him. Mayweather's performance was much more exciting and had more action than the Canelo-Trout fight. People say Floyd is ducking Canelo whereas before it was a cherry pick. Which one is it?Canelo barely edged it out against Trout too.
A lot of people appreciated Mayweather's performance against Cotto and praised him for it. Alvarez was a joke fight before fighting Trout because he had nothing worth mentioning on his resume nor has he proven his self on a serious scale. After that he's definitely a great opponent for Mayweather in my view. Though in general, Mayweather will never get credit for whoever he fights or beats. That's just a given when you have 0 losses, everyone expects you to win all fights and give you zero credit for it. You can easily see that fighters with losses usually get far more appreciation than fighters without.

I don't think anyone, but just pure haters or non-boxing fans, should criticize or discredit him if he beats Canelo at 154. Had he did made the fight against Pac and beat him, there would be no questions also. Thing is this, he had his chance to shut everyone up but didn't. Hence the criticism he gets while he goes around proclaiming he's the best of all time.
There is a difference between choosing not to move as much and not being able to physically move as much. If Mayweather could move like he Floyd used to he would he has clearly declined, but even without the mobility of old there is nobody that can beat him, nobody. When Jones Jr legs went he spent long periods pinned to the ropes getting hit. Floyd could spend 3 minutes of every round pinned to the corner and still slip 80% of the shots coming his way and win the fight. It really doesn't matter if he has declined he's still head and shoulders above anyone else. I have never been a Mayweather fan. but I am enjoying his most recent performances. Now that he is no longer the physically outstanding phenom he was before, I am able to admire his sheer skill and technique more.
Honestly, the only thing I have noticed regarding Mayweather's erosion is that his defense doesn't look as tight as it once did. He used to stand right in front of guy with that Philly Shell guard and make guys miss. His defense was impenetrable. Now, he seems to rely on a lot of slipping with upper body movement, and seems to be getting hit more than he used to. Not a lot more, but it is noticeable. Maybe it was just me, but he looked a bit vulnerable in there against Rob G for the first two rounds.
I'm not a Floyd fan, but that's just stupid if they do that. Without any concessions or catchweights or anything, Floyd beating Canelo at 154 is without a doubt a great win.
The first 2-3 rounds of a Mayweather fight are always the feel out rounds, learning the rhythm and timing of his opponent. He's like a computer scanning his opponents weaknesses and then dominates after the second or third round for a late stoppage or an easy unanimous decision.
He's so far ahead of the rest,even at 36 and that sort of dominance along with masterful displays that don't appeal to people who think Gatti was slick means that he will always be hated by many. **** em.That was even better than Rigo last night,and I'm just grateful I have the ability to see that.

Its the same with all fighters why is it that only Floyd fans start threads like this? some give him credit some wont like i said its the same with all fighters nobody is picking on poor little Floyd here, the way these clowns constantly talk about the haters make it seem like Mayweather is treated like Jack Johnson was treated back in the day just like Showtime in that 30 days in may doc made him look like a victim and like he was this Era's Nelson Mandela on the days leading up to his arrest as if he was some political prisoner or some civil rights leader instead of the woman beater that he is.
