my facts are watertight, check boxrec if you like. gurerro only boxed at welter twice and had most of his fights at feather and DUH! of course im disrespecting the competition thats the whole point. If he wasnt bigger then they were washed up and usually both
this was such a mismatch that i can't and don't understand how *****s claiming to be experts in boxing can seriously defend that sh!tfight.
Can you refute anything he said? :hey Floyd is a great con-man in boxing - aka hustler. He fights fighters with credentials but are b, c-level / faded, smaller, and never stood a chance in the first place When a fighter with credentials who's also a threat is staring him in the face - i.e prime cotto, margarito, mosley (in 07-09), Pacquiao, canelo, williams, etc - he makes excuses - my health is important I need a vacation, i need to retire, i need more money There not a ppv attraction, I already proved myself, Bob Arum Their on steroids :!:
And Canelo will be the same way once he get in the ring with Mayweather and Floyd still won't get his credit, why? Because he makes it look easy.
as i said, resumes are 10 a penny and are easily manufactured. duran fought much better opposition, so did de la hoya in that he fought 50-50 fights in the opponents prime and generally at their weight thomas hearns too: a prime cuevas with 11 title defenses and 10 ko's, a prime sugar ray leonard, roberto duran (tho he was bigger) a prime hagler (hearns moved up in weight) a prime virgil hill (hearns again moved up in weight and gave age to the long reigning champion
if he beats alvarez i promise ill give him all the credit in the world. its nothing personal just the facts. but we all know theres no way on earth he'll fight alvarez
With the exception of maybe Ortiz, all of his last 6 opponents are good. To consistently beat good (not great, but still good) fighters and dominate them is still pretty damn impressive. You try fighting good fighters for 10+ years and see if you don't have at least one bad day at the office. Now there are fighters who consistently fight and beat great opponents but that's why these special fighters are higher than Floyd on the ATG list. I have no problem with that. In terms of special talent, Floyd's as gifted as anyone who has ever put on boxing gloves. That's not being a fanboy. That's just telling it like it is.
1.Thomas hearns fought smaller guys his whole career. I should have been fight fighting at junior welterweight or middleweight instead of fight little guys so he can have a reach advantage. 2.Sugar Ray ran from Aaron Pryor. 3.And Duran lost amost every major fight in his career. And Leonard made him quit on the stool. I can easily criticize all these ATGs like you are doing to Mayweather.
no i dont think he qualifies as an all time great on account of his one sided approach to choosing fights. HENCE THE POST
its not about who beat who, its about facing a challenge. duran moved up 2 weights and beat a prime sugar ray leonard, show me when mayweather did anything remotely similar. Ray leonard also picked his fights carefully but moved up in weight and fought the dreaded hagler after 1 fight in five years and was a big underdog. hearns oponents were small? prime cuevas? prime leonard? prime hagler? prime hill? best not to join in really if you cant keep up
look at the stats and tell me of the 6 you mention who was in their prime and at their optimum weight?
