That is exactly what I'm saying.

Ok I'll humour you here because that's a **** list if you are seriously gonna make this ridiculous argument against Ali.

I'll give you SRR but he only just beats Ali in my books and a lot of people feel Ali edges it. I suppose there may be a case for Duran and Leonard (if you were talking about Benny (which you weren't!)) And yeah I'll allow you SRL but that is definitely a PUSH. Those guys I think there is an argument to be made.

Also I don't know who Joe Lewis is but if you are referring to Louis then yeah there's a definite argument there too.

But I give Ali the edge comfortably over those guys personally and again I feel probably most fans and experts would too, with the exception of SRR I guess most would put him above Ali and maybe Louis which is probably split.

However to list guys like Mayweather, Chavez, Hopkins etc. I mean come on you clearly just don't like the guy at all if you list these above him.

You tell me I DKSAB, well at least I don't go around making claims like this which is either:

    a) an uneducated guess

    Or the far more likely

    b) you deliberately trying to be controversial in the most unoriginal way possible

I know I don't have the wealth of boxing knowledge to shut you down completely but you've done that for me basically. If you are going to make claims like this at least be original and don't post the same thread that a hundred other dicks post to get attention. And if you really believe that Ali isn't a top 10 p4p ATG then I suggest you start using this website better as a guy with your post count which indicates you use the site regularly should take advantage of the fantastic knowledge and insight that some of the posters on here provide and educate yourself more about the sport.

Had to go on a rant because I know anyone on here with any real knowledge about the sport wouldn't give this thread the time of day and you had it coming.

You have no shame, don't you? Don't you compare Ali to Klitschko? Ali was the greatest, not one of the greatest boxers. Watch his fights please! Frazier, Foreman, all great opponents...

"He copied his style off SRR"

So what is wrong with emulating the greatest boxer that ever lived?

Should James Toney also be considered overrated because he learnt his stuff from studying tapes from Walcott, Archie Moore etc?

Depends how you rate him - if you think he's the greatest ever P4P then, yeah, that's overrating him.

He's the best Heavyweight ever and top 10 P4P ever though, so no - he's not overrated by most people. He just gets the respect he deserves.

Learn to read you illiterate cum gobbler.

When did I compare Ali to Klits? :patsch

It's universally accepted that Lewis would beat Ali in a h2h match up, same with prime Tyson.

Ali's resume > Them both though.

He isnt overrated,he isnt my favorite fighter to watch by any stretch but his record speaks for itself. The fact that he lost to Norton and Frazier dont mean anything, they were top notch fighters themselves and in an era like that it would have been amazing had any of them retired unbeaten. It is annoying when casual fans dismiss anyone else as the all time great as though they were no marks but you cant deny Ali is a very serious contender for it. The later defeats dont count against him,it is like judging Tyson on the Kev McCbride fight.

This is a good question, how many people have actually sat down and watched a load of his fights start to finish. I have not,Ive seen loads of footage over the years but Ive not sat and watched a full fight. The clips Ive seen were not of Robinson dancing about confusing his opponent Ali style,he was in what I would call tear ups. As I say not watched that much of him but I cant think Ali copied him from what I have seen.

That's not universally accepted at all. It's universally accepted that they could defeat Ali, but not that they would.

:patsch:rofl I wonder in what universe are you living cause apparently its not the same as me, Ali would beat Tyson even before they ever stepped up in the ring, Mike just wasnt strong enough mentally he isnt going to KO Ali and after very hard first 3 or 4 fights Ali takes over and wins UD. Tyson was great in cutting the ring off but Ali had supreme footwork so he would be able to stay of the ropes(we are talking prime Ali)
