Congratulations, seriously, it didn't sound like you were chewing on Floyd's **** and balls in this post.
Something we have to remember is that outside of his fight with De La Hoya, Mayweather didn't sell 1m ppv's until manny came in the picture. Remember how hyped up people were for the Mayweather vs Hatton fight, how much muscle HBO put behind that fight? It failed to crack 1m PPV buys. Like people on here have pointed, now that the race to the top is over between Pacquaio and Mayweather, Floyd will go back too being a very solid PPV guy 700k-800k.
Robert "didn't have a Ghost of a chance" Guererro should have done more to inspire people to watch. Like say maybe worn a religious themed trunk and priest robes to match his t-shirt as well as grown his beard longer to look more like Jesus's beard. On top of that he could have had his corner read him some bible passages in between rounds. All these little details can make a big difference in inspiring people because his performance most certainly did not, which is what most individuals expected from him hence not buying the PPV. Robert should watch N'dou's performance vs Floyd, now thats inspiring, he gave it everything he had even though he was getting destroyed in the ring where as Robert did what most of us expected, nothing.
I believe his best ppv was agaisnt judah and cracked 375k, vs a very popular gatti he cracked 350k. It tells you something about mayweather.
His opponent was someone with no hope, I'm personally glad the fans are waking up to this and not ordering fights where Mayweather can freely demonstrate his ability whenever and however he wants. Regarding the "cash cow" stuff, he IS boxing's cash cow whether you like it or not. Both Mayweather and Pacquiao are up there with the rest being far below.
Good question...let's ask. Floyd fans, why do you guys care so much about PPV numbers and cite them all the time?
The Mayweather fans painted themselves in this corner ask them.... They are the ones who made a big deal out of Floyds PPV numbers claiming he was this massive star who could draw 1 million buys no matter who he fights. once again they have been proven wrong
Some of it is silly bickering, but the numbers do carry ramifications not only for Mayweather fights but other Showtime bouts. I hope they learned their lesson about pitting him against a no-hoper. This was the first Mayweather fight I didn't watch live since Gatti.
