Wlad's greatest performances were against shot old mercer and Byrd I. This further emphasize my point that he was ktfo in his absolute Prime by Corrie Sanders... and later on by Brewster........ He didn't get better overall... he just converted his style.
You seem like a reasonable guy. Wladimir's climb back to the top was because of the era he was in. Think about this. Say Purrity-Sanders-Brewster happened in the early or mid 90's.. his climb back to the top would have been filled with big massive punchers like Ruddock-Bruno-Tua-Morrison--- he would have needed to beat those guys just to get a shot at the Tier 1 B's like Bowe and Tyson or the Tier 1 A'S like Lewis-Holyfield. Now can CURRENT WLAD with his style beat Bruno-Ruddock-Tua-Morrison? Most likely. Yes... But do you honestly think the Wlad who just lost to Sanders would have made it out against Tua in his next 2-3 fights? Once again..... he fought Fabio and Williamson as part of his 'come back phase' .......... the Fabio and Williamson of the 90's were the Bruno's and Morrison's.... Wlad's comeback has been impressive. but it is a product of the era as well as a product of himself and Steward...
