    We've been here before.
People claimed Mayweather's fight had not sold out. They went to the resale websites to 'prove' tickets were still massively available. The truth was way different.
Now they are claiming the PPV nos are less than 1 million just a day after the fight.
We have been here before where rumours have been broadcast by wishful thinkers. This idea that Mayweather's ppv numbers were less than 1 million are rubbish and to say the break even point is 1.2m ppv is laughable, that's a gross of $84m, what margins are being used here? very few people have ever done a PPV of more than 1 million so how can anyone invest in a project with so little returns and a high risk? Of course trying to get the HBO marketshare could be the reason but still this is nonsense.
These numbers take long to compile for a reason. Just wait until next week when you will know how many numbers have been done.
We have always heard rumours after the fights and non of the rumours have ever been true. Bob Arum is known for massaging figures and sending moonshots out there only to be proved to be a liar when the actual results come.

Enough market forecasting was done way before the fight was signed man. The margin of error is never more than 5%. This fight will sell the millions which were expected to be sold. It's not like they wake up one day and say 'Oh let's sign Guererro and see how many ppv we will sell' then spent days worrying. A lot of research and surveys go before these things. Dont be gullible man, top notch media executives are running these companies.
These rumours about PPV have never been proved ever since rumours were invented. We get these things every time.

i highly doubt its under a mil, people say his fights are boring and no one ever wants to watch them but that has been said over many many many many fights. and he still continues to push past 1m ppv buys with ease sometimes

i expect this fight to sell 1.1 1.2 because guerrero doesent have a fanbase, not even the mexicans get behind him

What people forget is that Mayweather has his own fan base. The boxing connossieur and purists. He also has some casual fans who never watch boxing except when he's fighting. All this information is available to the marketing executives. Mayweather's fights even at the arena are expensive and not $10 like Canelo's. If this was an airline you would say Mayweather caters for first class passengers and they tend to be very loyal. Of course the B side always helps but that B side is often exaggerated.Just as an example If Canelo's fan base was that big by now he would be a PPV star. The fact he's not shows he doesn't materially affect PPVs and this goes for all the other fighters. People will say Cotto was the reason Mayweather had so many PPVs but if he was such a star why doesn't he do over 1.2m ppvs on his own. Most of these so called people with pulling power often only do less than 500k ppv themselves. This is because of price elasticity to their services. In other words they have followers who are not prepared to pay a dime to watch them fighting. What's the use of filling a stadium if people got in for free?

the reason break even point is 1.2 mill is mainly because they have to pay floyd a ridiculous amount!

The guarantee is the same as his guarantee for the cotto fight!!

plus it looks like they spent a lot of money marketing this thing!

The only way it'll sell a million PPV is if Golden Boy will ****in' window dress the numbers. Everyone can see there was very little excitement on this fight. Deal with it. 800K plus :deal:hi::hi::rasta

This is the first time Floyd hasn't had another marquee name on his card to help his numbers....usually GBP is really good at putting on some solid names to take some of the pressure off Floyd having to carry the whole PPV on his name a lone. So if his PPV numbers are under a million, this would be due to being the only one carrying the entire PPV event on his own popularity. Robert isn't exactly a big dance partner.

All promoters massage the revenue and PPV numbers. ....especially big outfits like Top Rank and Golen Boy.....so whatever the promoters say.....more than likely they've "rounded up".

Casual fans are such a ****ing joke.

One of the other best P4P fighters in the world was also on the card. Too bad no one knew it, because he put on a show.

 fanboys are so ****ing gay. Look knuckle head....you realize just because you are on a mythical p4p ranking system in a niche sport like boxing doesnt mean you are a house hold name, right? :rofl do yourself a favor and stop trying to be Floyd's #1 fan....you're not a fan of the sport but an over enthusiastic *****.

The only loser to this event will be Showtime, but their "Big Brother" CBS will bail them out. This shall be a lesson to Showtime to ensure the B side of a Mayweather event be a "name" opponent from here on in.
