The gross revenue at 1.2 million is around $84m. Mayweather's guaranteed $32 and Guererro's Mayweather's personal expense from the gate takings. Do you really think the operational expenses are $50m for this fight? PPV revenue for Mayweather are marginal costs so really don't matter here. That number (1.2m) and the low ppv numbers was pulled from someone's drunken ass in a pub somewhere. It was never thought out.
No joke!:rofl Who else would be considered the "other" P4P fighter on the card?atsch Did you really think that I was claiming Floyd wasn't a household name or a major PPV draw? C'mon man... Abner is NOT a PPV fighter....how many PPV cards has he headlined? How many casual fans know who he is....how many PPV buys do you think he created for the Card? This was all Floyd kid.
Yeah, none of that had anything to do with what I was saying. They could've put Mosley-Cano on the card in place of Mares-PDL and it probably would've sold better to casuals based on name recognition, yet Mares is everything the "casual fan" wants, delivered it and nobody even knew about it, hence their general cluelessness.
#1....You assumed that I was a "casual fan" based on my post that stated Floyd carried the PPV event on his own shoulders. You countered with some nonsense that there was "another" P4P fighter on the card... Which had nothing to do with my comment. All 3 undercard fights were great...even more exciting than the main event...but don't fool yourself if you actually believe those undercard fights moved the needle in generating PPV buys. Again...my point was Floyd's name alone was the reason for this fight doing the numbers it did. Mares is a great young champion and put on a hell of a performance...showed heart, will and determination getting that KO over PDL.....He just isn't a big draw at the moment.....The win will surely help his stock.
The point was strictly about casual fans. That's it. I already know you as Knuckleup, why would I assume you're a casual fan? Nobody that registers here and posts even somewhat regularly could be considered that. We're arguing over literally nothing.
Leonard Ellerbe denied the rumours the ppv numbers were less than 1 million. Check his twitter account.
Who cares? Floyd is the biggest draw in our sport, by far... regardless of how little he sold last weekend.
if they had 1 million PPV buys, those numbers would have been released by now, its weds for **** sakes....
cuz you know, we should believe everything that comes out of ellerbe's mouth. if he says they did 900k, then that means they probly did about 6-700k
Sure cus Ellerbe would never lie would he? Edit: Just did and he hasnt said a god damn thing in denying the rumors he said the numbers havent been released yet
