Froch v Kessler PPV - Number of Buys?

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Nafflad26, May 8, 2013.

  1. Nobody likes a snake and what is wrong with advertising fights on Sky, Boxnation or internet sites anyway?

Internet streaming is here to stay and cannot be stopped as close one stream down and another 10 appear within minutes

I haven't said a word Pal, not my style, but you can guarantee that someone will come along and report the post. I don't have an opinion one way or the other with streams but the site rules are ****ing rigidly applied on that subject.

I couldn't tell you but I don't think it will do great numbers, the undercard is not good enough thus far, I want to watch a good night of boxing for 15 bar, not just 1 good fight.

When you think about our recent ppv fighters (Hatton/Khan/Haye) they have a had a far greater profile with the general public. Also, will be interesting to see whether the champions league final is a positive or negative with the casuals watching the football on Sky that night

Seeing as I'm not the target audience, it only endorses my stance of ''Hearn can get ****ed'' regarding this PPV, personally he already try's to appease the casual fans too much with the revolting Prizefighter, which by the way has no proof what so ever of bringing new fans into the sport, now he's trying to do it with PPV?

Here's a thought Edward, maybe try to appease hardcore fans when charging extra money or maybe just in general, because the stuff so far on normal sky has been shite.

For boxing to move on from niche sport it needs to appeal to a big audience as possible.

Froch's fights tend to do about 250-300k on Sky Sports. People actually tend to watch the fight for £15 rather than watch on Sky Sports, because of a) the fact it's on PPV makes it bigger and a "can't miss" b) the extra hype and mainstream coverage the fight gets.

I'm not saying that it will do more than 300k, but wouldn't be surprised if it did.
