Safety first, wouldnt take even a little risk and stunk the joint out because of it. Worst part is we all know he can perform so much better, he couldve had Gurrero out of there
Hes never been a natural combo puncher. He's a pot shotter at heart. He was actually starting to throw combo's recently tho, now he's gone back to his old ways.
He does throw combos. Just didn't throw a lot of them this fight. Is this your first time watching a floyd fight?
A few reasons. 1. He doesn't need to. 2. He has trouble with his hands. 3. Conserves energy. Floyd has shown when he needs to start letting the combos go he can. He did it in the mosley, ortiz and hatton fight.
a boxer should win or lose at least be or try to be entertaining. floyd, as fast and athlaetic as he is has every advantage to be entertaining, sadly he doesnt try, bad for fans.
it is not about showing that he can, it is about being entertaining, the least he can do to entertain is to not hold back and put up some combos. it has nothing to do with win or lose, jus be a bit more crowd pleasing.
it depends ont the opponent....some his best in years were vs Ortiz, threw a couple 6 punch combos that were blazing and 100% connect rate
It depends who he fights. Against big guys he single shots. Plus he is so accurate/quick/good feints, that he can get away with it. Most fighters needs the jab to setup their powershots. Floyd's fients/boxing IQ allows him to lead with power shots.
Less risk. Whenever you punch...You leave an opening somewhere....so while combination punching has its benefits, there are also devastating risks, which in this sport can end in an instant. Floyd is more defensive minded and his style reflects that....but when he does open up and take risks...we are all in for a treat. He's a special fighter for sure but he's beatable. Everyone is....He's just less beatable when he's pot shotting....keeping out of range and using his feet to control real estate.
It is quite pathetic to see how many people knows absolutely nothing on how to box. Very few fighters in history can land power shots without a jab. It takes a special talent to that period.
Floyd wanted to fully let his hands go Saturday, but Robert was game and locked in with his finger on the trigger prepared to counter while Floyd was throwing from round 1-12. The Guerrero's plan was to wait on Floyd and counter Robert didn't even jab, they thought by doing this it would nullify Mayweathers right hand and force him to lead, but Mayweather showed how versatile and how much artillery his arsenal had could land that right without any counters, whether the right hook, overhand, straight, sweeping or uppercut with laser guided precision. But people here dont watch the fights and analyze what's going on in the ring, they rather pick one thing to hate on and slight Mayweather with, even if Mayweather didnt throw many combo's did Mayweather not let his hands go and try everything even pulling the vicious left hooks out of his lost bag of tricks to knock the granite chinned Guerrero out
