Maybe because he was a great fighter who showed heart and was a WC.

It's because it's a weak Hall of Fame.

Gatti was incredibly famous. He was arguably the face of HBO boxing for a few years.

I'm a huge fan of his, but can see valid complaints against his induction. The entire IBHOF will be an absolute joke in a few years when Joe "I don't want tough fights" Calslappy gets in so it's kind of a moot point, though.

Even though he didn't have the most talent in the world the fights he was in were hall of fame worthy when it came to excitement and action. He sold out the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City many times because of it.

    He belongs in the hall.

He was a huge fan favorite and generally a very respected fighter who brought a lot to the sport, such as 3 "fights of the year". No, I don't think that he should be in, given that he was a B level boxer and got pretty much destroyed by every elite boxer he faced.
I know that HOFers aren't only measured by accomplishment, but imo that should be the key factor.

Calzaghe was a greater fighter than Gatti with a vastly superior resume.

Because he thrilled fans time after time. Had more Hail Marys than Doug Flutie.

By the 'Barry McGuigan Standard', Gatti is a lock.

B level boxer? That's being generous, to say the least.

Gatti got in the hall of fame strictly off having famous fights, and for having the heart of a lion. Does he belong in any respectable hall of fame? Absolutely not.

It's called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Skill.

It's a museum about boxing. If someone goes to a museum about boxing 200 years from now and wants to know what was going on during our time, it's reasonable for Gatti to part of the exhibition.

Putting a famous fighter from famous fights into a Hall of "Fame" doesn't make sense to you?
