Can someone explain to me why the Hell Gatti is in the hall of Fame?

Exactly. Im ****in sure there are fighters in the HOF without winning a world championship.

 

He doesn't deserve it. It is ridiculous that he is in the Hall while the Prince is not

 

Good point. I don't get why people are complaining about Gatti getting inducted when you have clowns like Langford and Burley in there, who weren't even good enough to fight for a title, never mind win one.

Triple crown champions like Gatti and Duke Mackenzie should be first balloters :deal

It is good.. But that accomplishment is not solely enough to make a fighter a HOF'er

 

It makes perfect sense when you consider that it's mainly a bunch of American boxing writers deciding who gets in and who doesn't :nut

To be fair, the IBHOF do a **** poor job of publicising their criteria, and are more interested in getting a decent number of high profile inductees every year than the long-term credibility of their Hall.

 

It makes far more sense than Joe Cortez or Sylvester Stallone's inclusion. If you want to judge just how ridiculous their inclusion was, they both went in the same year as JCC, Mike Tyson and Kostya Tszyu iirc.

Don't know if Cortez is worthy, I'll let other people debate that. But Stallone was utter bull****.

 

I don't think anyone really cares about the Non-Participant or Observer categories. For what it's worth I'd have Stallone in there ahead of Leroy Neiman.

 

Sure wasn't a tomato can. But not an elite fighter by any stretch, through he has a very good career, it is not HOF worthy in my opinion.

 

I agree Cortez's induction was ridiculous, however Stallone was justified, in my opinion. He was put in as a writer for writing the Rocky movies, which are arguably the face of boxing.

I don't agree with Gatti getting in, especially seeing how Michael Moorer (who was eligible for this induction) did not get in.

In my opinion, if Gatti were still alive, he would not be getting inducted. There are many other warriors in the ring who were on par as a fighter or better than he was and who were involved in just as many wars.

They lowered the bar by putting Gatti in.

 

cortez n stallone were put into non participant group. its different. should gatti be in on accomplishment. probably not. papp is in there for his 3 gold medals in amateur boxing basically

 

There is a reason its called the Hall of Fame, inductees are people who were famous not only in the boxing world but in the general public. Arturo Gatti brought alot of excitement to his fights and represented ideals such as heart and perseverance. I would consider inducting him solely off his performance against Wilson Rodriguez what an amazing guy, there are few like him.
