Is that all you guys have - "at their weight class"? The quality and style of opponents not matter to you? Mental midgets like Ortiz and average guys like Guerrero (who, by the way, has been featherweight for most of his career) are all ok just because they happen to be fought at a specific number. But guys like Cotto, JMM and Marg do not count -- despite them being much better opponents -- because weren't at their "weight class". What a simplistic view you guys have.
40 year old JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ will fight anyone, anywhere, regardless of money or weight. Marquez a real G. This content is protected
Catchweight and Margo was not a top contender and he was coming off a loss and year layoff. ****, he wasn't even a legit 154 pounder. The fight was a joke and is not even comparable. Try again.
Are you ****ing kidding me? Where the hell were you when, during the time Floyd was in retirement, Pacquiao was being asked to fight Martinez at 154. That's right, Martinez. Those requests were soon dropped when Floyd returned and it emerged that if Pacquiao was being asked to fight Martinez, then so would Floyd. Then it suddenly became "Martinez is too big, yo. He shouldn't be picking on welterweights". Different standards my ass .
Marquez was widely viewed as a cherrypick, and the odds reflected that. There was a reason Pacquiao tried to bring him up after seeing him on his ass by Katsidis :deal
Newsflash. Floyd fought Cotto and Marquez already. Cotto at his actual weight and Marquez at the weight where he KTFO of Pac.
Except a Floyd rematch :rofl Marquez has avoided a few good fights, but it was in order to get at pac so its understandable.
Floyd brings JMM up = :good Pac brings JMM up = :nono Irrespective of the fact that, unlike Floyd, Pac respected his contracted weight (thought you might have considered that seeing as though "weights" mean a lot to you ) and that Pac is closer to him in size - height, reach and weight. And yup, fighting him after being schooled the third time and knowing he had his number, really is a cherry pick, isn't it. Regardless of what the odds were and what some of you try to paint, JMM has always been Pac's kryptonite and his most dangerous opponent. Yet Pac fought him not once, not twice, not even three times, but four! But no, Pac is the only masterful cherry-picker in boxing that only commits to fights he knows he wins. :nut
The second biggest draw of what? I think Manny P and Miguel Cotto would disagree. Dude hasn't even headlined a PPV yet and his cable numbers are less than Adrien Broner.
Real talk here. This is why I completely changed my views on Pacquiao (used to hate his guts). Pacquiao knew Marquez always gave him trouble, yet fought him 4 times. He earned my respect.
But.. but pac is smaller despite weighing the same as floyd and fighting at welterweight for about five years!
He deserves props for the 4rth fight but lets be real. He picked marquez the third time because he was aging and he saw how bad he looked against floyd at welterweight. Little did he know and most of us fans know that he would get schooled again.. That's cherry pickin gone wrong :good.
