Rumors have been surrounding this subject for some time now...The rumor (Floyd acuusing Pac being on PED's, then Floyd was being a ***** about the purse. Do you guys believe that Floyd just wanted no part of Manny, Or it was just not to be?..Either way my opinion...Floyd bitched out!

Flat out, I think Floyd is an opportunist and like any promoter in the sport tries to maximize return and minimize risk. I think ever since Oscar he doesn't fight anyone unless he thinks he has a definite edge. I think he either thought Manny was too much risk (unless Floyd could work it so that he was blatantly getting the better end of the deal in terms of the monetary deal) or that he'd just make more money by taking on a number of fighters who had no real chance against him.

Not saying Manny and Arum are blameless in the whole thing, but I think Floyd saw that Manny was one of the few fighter who posed any risk to him and Floyd basically decided "Screw that, I'm going to get rich against guys who don't have a chance."

I know for sure this would have been Floyds toughest fight of his career, I always had Manny picked.

    Ego, on Mayweather's part mostly.

I don't think Mayweather had any doubts that he could beat Pacquiao. I don't think he sat there weighing up 'the risk of losing' against the millions he could make.
It was simply a case of not wanting to share the limelight with a star as big as himself, someone who'd come along and stolen his thunder.

In Texas, the "duck" season, usually starts around Nov. 1st each year.

For 2013, the Texas Fish & Wildlife Dept. has added "Mayweather" to the list
    of "puddle" and 'diving" ducks.

I always root for Floyds opponents, but he would beat Pacquiao like a redheaded stepchild. The lateral movement Pacquiao discovered at higher weights will not bother Floyd, Pacquiao is not an inside fighter, Floyd is better in the pocket and won't be able to miss with his right hand.

Floyd does not realize that money is not the full objective since he always says he is the greatest, so legacy matters. And if legacy does matter, he needs the names like Pacman on his resume.

Well a few reasons, firstly Pacquaio pulled out due to drugs testing first time around. Then both sides made offers the other side turned down later down the line. 50 Cent tried to make the fight and said he had problems with Arum and Floyd.

Arum didn't really want to take the risk of losing his cash cow for only half of the money pot, as he usually skimmed off the top of Manny and his opponent. That's why Arum would make offers of 40million instead of 50% or 60%, because he knew that would represent only around 25-30% of the total and he could keep a large percent of the total as his own fee.

Mayweather did see it as a risky fight for some reason (I always thought it was an easy style) and was pretty cautious but he did at least offer the fight at least twice for it to be turned down. He certainly wanted to earn above what he'd normally make for the risk.

Essentially though the reason is money, more could be made milking the names without risking their gravy boat, than their could be in fighting 1 another.
