"There's another boxing maxim he refuses to acknowledge: the fighter is always the last to know" - Paul Kent.

    So true :deal

Who can tell the likes of Holyfield, Roy Jones etc that it's time and make them take notice?

I disagree. There has been a lot of good fights lately and there is still more to come. I would say that by the time the year ends it will be one of the best years of boxing we have had in a long time.

This. We have Hopkin's breaking records,we have unification bouts that have been great to watch e.g Donaire-Rigo,Alvarez-Trout and Kessler-Froch coming up. Boxing has been good so far this year.

yeah, its probably been picking up in more recent times.

there's obviously plenty of **** in boxing, but things won't change in a hurry.

if fighters were rewarded more for ability, toughness etc. and not how many zero's on there records, then people would watch more.

I really don't understand why people are getting so worked up about this article?? Can anyone explain it to me? Is it just the title?

David Aloua went nuts at Kent on twitter.

It was a legitimate comment, not an attempt to troll. Thanks for the advice though!

Whilst I don't agree boxing is dying, I do agree that boxing mismatches like Pianeta vs Wlad dont do the sport any favours. I also dont want to see past their prime vets like Holyfield and Jones Jnr fight anymore either at the expense of their legacy but that's their call.

..I see his point though..there was a day no so long ago where the Heavyweight Championship of the World meant something and we knew who the champ was and most people knew a couple of the contenders..maybe it was the end of a era when Lennox Lewis retired..
