Don't think there's any hate for Brook or Hearn flying about on this thread. Think what we are seeing is just a case of Hearn realising Brook isn't a straight forward case; if there's one thing Hearn isn't afraid to do is get fighters out in world title fights. Those are the fights he sees the money coming from in getting future marketable bills, but there's obviously a problem with Brook on that score. Hearn swore Brook would fight for a world title during 2012 after appearing on the Froch-Ward undercard in Dec 2011. There was no talk about more 'learning' fights back then. Don't see a problem with the Jones rematch if he wants to settle a score and put things right after all this time out. But to be getting Diaz to come up to 147 after he only looked good becasue Khan is not far off being a busted flush is stretching things a bit.
Kell has been unable to do any weight-bearing exercise so hasn't been back in the boxing gym yet. Obviously they have to be careful with his recovery to prevent recurrence. :good
Stop being smug and trying to be clever. I think he would have fought for an interim title would have lost. also would not been as good a fighter as he is now, not made as much money and not have as much profile. Have to laugh at these lazy match making comments. Juan Diaz knocksdown and loses a close decision to your biggest domestic rival and long term aim for an opponent in your hometown. Its logical not lazy. Brook v Jones II & Juan Diaz are fights that sells tickets and gets the casual interest. Same as Senchenko. Also I think there all steps forward for Brook.
Do people not think this may be just keeping Brook busy and keeping him in the public eye ready for a big PPV fight with Khan around feb/march next year. Hearn has said numerous times over last few weeks that PPV is where the money is, both for fighters and promoters. Khan fights Alexander for IBF in December, Khan wins and is order to fight Brook as mandatory, there is the big PPV fight. Only thing getting in the way is the possible Maywetaher fight for Khan, but I think it may be Alavarez early next year for Maywetaher.
Oh dear I hope you are not suggesting Edward came into the sport for money and not altruistic boxing reasons. ........kerching.....Brentwood ppv bling..
Where will Khan be in 2 fights time?? I'm worried that Brook/Hearn are becoming totally consumed by Amir Khan. I understand why both Brook/Hearn want the fight, but perhaps they should have taken a few more risks to raise Brooks profile last year. Khan is a delusional *****, but I don't blame him for mugging off Kell..... IceMax said at the time that Brook & Hearn will regret not taking the Bradley fight when they had the chance. I didn't agree then, but I do now. You can propel yourself big time in this day & age... Even in defeat
Im not a Brook fan at all, in fact exactly the opposite, but if you honestly believe that a bust up nose and swallowing blood doesn't make you gas then I guess you've never had a bust up nose and swallowed blood. Jones only looked good in the second half because Brook was struggling with the injury. This is without doubt a **** fight....unless Brook breaks his nose again. You've surpassed yourself here
The first quote is your typical arrogant, pompous, avoid-a-question-because-the-answer-doesn't-fit-my-agenda type post. Yet I'm smug/trying to be clever. Whatever. Its clear as day that Brook would have gotten a world title shot and considering Frank pays more than Eddie he probably would've made more money! If was made to fight an interim title then he would've fought Mike Jones, far easier than Alexander in the US.
In my opinion its going to be very interesting to see how Brook is matched. I truly believe its a blessing in disguise that his world title fight with Alexander was cancelled as I think he would have got beaten. I think Brook could still be a special fighter, its just that Carson fight for me exposed a lot of things that Brook needs to learn from before he fights for world titles.
I don't care about a paper title being on the line I care more about good quality fights, Jones and Diaz is not I would call good quality, he's beat Jones once already there is no need to go there again and as for Diaz despite a brave performance against Khan which I believe was his last hoorah he lost, Brook should be tested in every fight from now on. And I agree with Ice on the broken nose, I have had my nose broken many times (should have learnt how to duck more) and it is a ****.
Absolutely unbelievable, your moaning about Jones & Diaz being ****, yet you want Brook to fight Senchenko, he's ****ing dreadful.
If Golden Boy allow it, they'll get Diaz. All they want now is a shot at Khan, and through Diaz they'll strengthen their claim for it. With the Alexander title shot lost, they'll have no desire in taking the hard route. They'll carry on matching him with mediocre opponents and wait for Khan to continue to lose and underperform. Instead of working their way up to him, they'll allow Khan to regress and come down to Brook.
