Craney never mind us Scots hyping up Gonzalez your like a one man Gonzalez hype train have you dumped your boyfriend Broner because you seem to have a lot of love for Gonzalez?

Burns will win handily not because Gonzalez is poor or over hyped but because Burns is a world class fighter and Gonzalez is not.

What the **** are you talking about? Does every mortal thing have to be all for or all against? Why does everything have to be sworn to allegiance with you lot? Fanboy-No fanboy, Red-Blue.

You might not like it, but every time you lot open your mouths, you prove me right again and again. That is bound to get you even angrier, can you not control yourselves or debate like adults?

I've been down the middle with this fight and I believe it could go either way. I'm hoping for a great fight, everything points towards that. may the best man win, as it stands I am the only person on the forum to vote for a Gonzalez points win. If that comes of, I won't celebrate in your faces, however, if Ricky wins, you'll be all over it, "You doubted Ricky again" and all that bull****. I wouldn't be surprised if either man pulled this of its a 50/50 fight IMHO.

I knew this thread would become overrun by bravehearts. :-(

The Scottish will hype up every single fight Ricky is in to make it seem bigger than it actually is. Especially at this stage, where Ricky is fighting low ranked fighters. I started noticing this in the other thread, where to begin with people were saying he is low ranked, but as the thread went on, the Scottish were hyping him up as if to legitimize the fight.

I like Ricky and he seems like a top guy, very down to earth, aint got a bad word to say about him. But I suggest you lot get the tissues ready, because you have become so fanboyish and attached, the only way is down.

His fans, I cant believe he attracts these type of nutter fans, I really cant. I could understand it for a cocky and arrogant fighter, but Ricky couldn't be any further away from that type of fighter.

I hope for your lots sake Ricky will pull it of and then go on to the proper big fights in the division. Good luck Rick!

Nice thread, people were saying this is a **** fight for Burns a few months back, but them same people hadn't even watched Gonzalez. I think he's a credible and tough opponent for Ricky, especially with his recent inactivity.

Gonzalez reminds me of Rocky Martinez, punches hard but can be crude at times. Then the next minute he looks like a decent counter puncher, It really is strange.

Burns on points 10-2 or 9-3.

Craney your the biggest fanboy on esb how you manage to type so quickly while cracking one off to you tube videos of your boy broner is quite a talent.

You claim that the Scots have hyped gonzalez up but if you actually read some of the posts you have written (and I wouldn't advise it) you seem to be hyping him quite well yourself. He is a creditable opponent some have drawn comparisons with martinez which I think is fair but Burns should win with something to spare and Burns win imo and if he doesn't it won't be because gonzalez is a superstar it will be because Burns wasn't as good as some including me believe.

Is that simple enough for you Craney me old mucka?

I'm not hyping Gonzalez up, I'm giving him credit for what he is, not what he isn't....a lot of people see this as a forgone conclusion and he doesn't deserve to be in the same ring with the "world class" Ricky Burns. This isn't a pushover, I've watched Gonzalez and he looks more than capable of defeating Ricky Burns, but Ricky Burns is also more than capable of beating Gonzalez, so it should make for good boxing. I'm really looking forward to this fight. If I'm hyping Gonzalez up for that, then what are you lot doing for Ricky Burns?

    :yep

Oh and what has Adrien Broner got to do with this? Who has mentioned Adrien Broner apart from yourself?

You hate the bloke and me for being a "fanboy" (no concrete evidence) yet you are the one keeping his name relevant. :good

Think about it. No really. Think about it.

Have a look at thee self before pointing the finger. The Broner fight aint gonna happen, I said it months ago that Broner won't wait around and he will move up in weight before you can blink.

    I was right....

Doesn't look like Eddie Hearn wants the fight now either (not that he ever did) talking about "with momentum" they may be inclined to make the fight.

Doubt it will happen now. Broner is gone. Ricky will stay around at Lightweight for a while yet and take advantage of the division with the "mover-upers"

    Same here man.

It doesn't look like Jose Gonzalez has come to Scotland just to roll over. He is game.

He has come to win and so has Ricky. Win-win for the fans and the neutral.

Can be as game as he wants the only name i've heard on his record is Joseph Llaryea who is a common opponent between himself and Ricky and he's never fought out of PR i think as soon as he gets into the Scottish atmosphere with Ricky never giving him a minutes rest in there he will wilt under the pressure and as Billy says stop him between 7 and 9.

I dont see Burns vs Gonzalez as a competitive fight, i think Burns beats him with ease once he figures him out after a few rounds. It seems some people are getting a tad over excited after watching a few youtube clips of Gonzalez.

The fight im really looking forward to is Simpson vs Choi, thats a belter of a match up.

I very rarely get predictions wrong.

After studying both Burns and Gonzalez in terms of their skils/styles/speeds/strengths and weaknesses and how they would match up against each other i can tell everyone that my prediction is:

GONZALEZ will win by KO between rds 6-10

or GONZALEZ wins on points around 8rds to 4/gets robbed by split decison loss.

This is the fight BURNS finally gets found out as being a good operator but not good enough for Top 5 world level.

Is that what you think will happen, or what you want to happen?

This guy Gonzalez has been knocking out average to **** opposition, his last opponent had a **** record and took the fight at 2 weeks notice :patsch
He'll be lucky to hurt Burns never mind Knock him out.
I can see Gonzalez giving Ricky trouble early because he has some nice sneaky uppercuts and body shots, decent footwork as well. Once Burns figures him out he'll start dominating tho. Easy work for Burns :yep

    No you wouldn't.

Small minded to think people are over hyping simply of the back of devastating KO's on youtube......To think people may have actually watched those fights closely to see what Jose Gonzalez is actually about! :huh :patsch

Shouldn't you be getting the Jeff Lacy stuff out yet?....I'm shocked!

Of course Ricky will bring it like no other Gonzalez has faced before, but from what I've seen, there is nothing to say he wont be able to handle that. He seems like a good boxer to me first and foremost (what matters) with plenty of natural knockout power if needed.

If he was just a knockout artist with zero skills, I'd agree with you.

But he obviously has ability to back that 77% KO ratio up.

Write him of at your mercy Rossco. I'm sure Team Burns are taking this fight deadly seriously.

Gonzalez is game and Ricky will do well to beat him. :deal

    Credit where credits due.

Although my prediction is GONZALEZ to win via KO i agree that his power is over-rated especially looking at his KO percentage which has been compiled mostly against bums.

The reason i think he will KO Burns is that Gonzalez places his punches so well, he dosen't throw many punches but when he does he rarely misses and this will cause Burns alot of problems. Also it's one of BURNS first opponents in a while where they will be as tall if not taller so he won't have the physical advantages he normally has in fights which has been one of his big strengths in fights.

    Again:

GONZALEZ wins between rds 6-10 stoppage.
