In a boxing context, what does the term "bum" mean to you?

According to boxrec there are about 900-1100 boxers per division. The bottom 200-300 are probably what should be defined as "bums". Tye Fields is far from a bum, more like a low end Journeyman.

 

I think it should also be applied to fighters who have great amateur pedigrees but massively underperform as pros, i.e. Audley Harrison.

 

Why? That would be an underachiever.

 

Bums are boxers we have never heard of or never talks about.. Bums are the lowest ranked fighters in boxing, guys with 8-22 records..

 

Bums are all champions these days who lose a fight! Unseen in this boxing, to lose a fight.

 

No, they deserve the ridicule associated with the term "bum" because they didn't deliver on their talent.

Maybe not. But that doesn't make them bums. Judah didn't deliver on his talent but he has won multiple belts, would you call Judah a bum?

Even Tye Fields is not a bum..see those 49 wins, most of those may have been bums, but Fields by beating them, is not one himself.
