Mayweather is 10x the boxer margo is, would have easily beat Margo. He was offered a few mill to Take tha fight(before he was .a huge star) but ducked Tony. Pretty much defines Floyd. Does not want to take risks/lacks confidence.

Because Mayweather had never been in the ring with a fighter like Margarito and it would have been interesting to see?

Honest answer. Bc Arum refused to give him what he wanted for Hatton and Cotto in terms of money. Also taking that fight Floyd would have missed an opportunity to buy his way out of his contract with Arum.
The reason Mayweather opted for the buyout rather than waiting for the May 6 result was because the contract had a limited window for the buyout, one that expired before the De La Hoya fight. However, Arum said he would have extended the window if Mayweather had asked. What Arum wouldn't do, he said, was raise the guarantees for other fights outlined in the contract.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

    You are so wrong.

Margarito was his worst nightmare especially the version that beat Cotto. No matter how much Mayweather would have hit him, Marg would have chased him down all 12 rounds and landed plenty of shots with his constant pressure, granite chin and body punching.

Don't judge Marg for his fight with mosley, the dude was completely weight drained and dead going into the fight which has been documented. It was probably the reason too why his trainer tried to cheat in the fight knowing Margarito was gonna lose because he hadn't trained properly for the fight.

Mayweather retired after Margarito beat Cotto because he knew there was no way he could duck him any longer and didn't want any part of him. Notice the moment Margarito got beat then like magic Mayweather came back.

    This video is hilarious

He agreed to fight Margarito, but wanted 20 million for Oscar and 10 million each for Cotto and Hatton. Arum said "**** you" and Floyd returned the favor, making off much better without the cheap *******.

Floyd would have treated Margo the same way he treated Diego minus the knock downs. Margo would not be able to handle Floyd's movements and that speed and timing would have killed Margo. A blind man can see that.

You just have blind love for your cherry picking heroe who RETIRED straight after Marg knocked out Cotto knowing that would have had to fight him and didn't want any part of Tony.

Regardless what the hindsighter's will say, Maragrito's style would have gave Floyd fits.
(Put Williams on the same boat, Floyd didn't fight them for a reason)

Please explain how Margarito would have given Floyd problems. Walking Floyd down all flat footed is going to get you beat the **** down plus Floyd has the speed and ring IQ. Margo would have kept coming but he would have been beat down. Floyd would have been moving and in the center of the ring boxing his ass just like he did Corrales.
