    - Baldomir had all the belts and offered the most money at the time.
    - Mosley, Floyd wanted the fight early, Mosley turned it down, claims he had oral issues.
    - Hatton offered the most money at the time. Undefeated and held a WW belt.
    - Cotto, Floyd wanted it at 140 after he beat gatti, Arum and Cotto both said he wasn't ready.

Just sayin'... I agree that in certain cases there are better fighters to fight, but that doesn't always mean they bring the most money. Boxing is a sport, but its also the business and these guys should make as much as they can before they retire. Each boxer is essentially his own business and he employs many other people.

the names are ok on the resume but the timing was not that great. By the time he fought all of them they were either green and not great fighters or old and Floyd had the book on how to beat them from several examples.

  4. Mitchell was a garbage fight, ok. He was completely shot. Mayweather KO'd him with a straight right to the body.

That was Floyd's last non-PPV fight though, I don't really take anything away from him for that. It was a stay busy type fight. Definitely not solid though.

And that Mayweather jumped right back in the ring with Castillo 8 months later to give him a rematch and prove his point.

But that doesn't fit with the 'ducker' storyline so many here are in love with.

Do you realise that Mayweather actually admitting to picking Guerrero because he knew he wasn't a very good fighter?

Probably should have checked that out before starting this thread.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the money. Cherry picking is choosing an opponent over better competition for any reason. It's more understandable when it's for money, but it's a cherry pick nonetheless.

He's called Floyd "Money" Mayweather, not Floyd "Legacy" Mayweather for a reason.

See that two year gap? Remember when he was the undisputed Welterweight champion of the world, pretty much in his prime at 30 years of age, ruling over the hottest division in boxing? Yeah, so do I.

Remember when he defended that title against all the top contenders in that division during those two years? Nah, neither do I.

Judah: Many people criticized him for not taking on Carlos Baldomir first since Judah had just lost and most *****'s love to pick on anyone taking a fight with a fighter who just came off a loss

Oscar De La Hoya: This was a fight for a big pay day. Nothing wrong with that. ODH was finished and Mayweather admitted it in the 24/7 buildup. I think the performance from Mayweather after all the talk may have turned some people off

Ricky Hatton: Had barely deserved a points win against Collazo in his only fight at WW. Floyd could supposedly make 140 easily but chose to fight Hatton at a weight he was proven not to be suitable for.

Juan Manuel Marquez: He fought this man 2 weight classes above where he had ever fought at before and couldn't even bother to make weight, even though *****'s act like Floyd is a small WW.

Shane Mosley: Mosley had been defeated many times in the past. He was coming off the big Margarito win, but before that, how long had it been since Shane even looked impressive. When Mayweather spouts off about how certain fighters like Pacquiao have lost and why should he fight them then it looks bad when you take on someone like Mosley who had been on more of a losing streak then a winning streak

Robert Guerrero: A career LW whose only claim to fame is beating Andre Berto in a war. *****'s also trying to make it out like Guerrero is naturally bigger and all that BS.

Sad part it, it's a good resume but the problem comes when you add Floyd's comments and the stupid *****'s in the equation. When Floyd retired, Cotto, Margarito, and Clottey were all considered big in the WW division. They were/are definitely more proven at that weight class then Hatton, Marquez, and Guerrero. Floyd retired, had made comments in the past to Margarito that he should keep winning, or that nobody had ever heard of them. Problem is, they were all considered threats and would have been much better in terms of legacy instead of Hatton and Guerrero. It just seems whenever Floyd is faced with a possible real threat he starts throwing around arguments like who have these guys beat, nobody has heard of them, or that they have lost. Aside from Hatton, all of Floyd's opponents had lost in the past. But, he retired when the WW division was just heating up and those men all went on fighting each other and then moving on.

Who can also forget the Pacquiao fight that never happened. Say what you want, but Floyd was nervous of Pacquiao but it was the fight the world was dying to see for years.
