Does Hatton's performance v Mayweather start to look better as time goes on?

How did you have Hopkins v Calzaghe out of interest?? I don't want to veer to much away from the subject but I'd be interested to know.

 

I remember idiots from work etc saying stuff like: "Aye, but Ricky nearly knocked him out in the first round!" The truth is he had a decent start, then Floyd started timing him and took him apart.

 

Can't remember my exact score but I had Calzaghe winning a really tight decision.

 

Hatton was appalling against Mayweather. Played into the naive view that intelligent boxers can't fight.

 

Ok.... That's interesting but best left for another time. Skills made a good thread on this a while ago.

 

The performance looks better over time. Hatton had fast footwork and good speed which gave Floyd something to think about.
For the first 6 rounds Hatton was very competitive

Hatton wobbled Mayweather in Round 1.

That was a 10-8 round for me, Floyd just about stayed on his feet.

 

The feet go tangled up I believe... Hatton never had him proper hurt, Floyd was more off balance & stumbled back making it look worse.

 

Hardly an excuse, Ricky was off balance and falling forward when Floyd caught him with that punch.

Bet you got all excited when Watt started shouting that Hatton had rocked Mayweather.

 

How come the qualified, official judges gave him 2 rounds then?

Was Mayweather more effective when he was nearly dropped by Hatton's jab?

Regardless there's more to a fight than the scoring and whether someone was knocked out or not. If you really think Guerrero gave Mayweather more trouble than Hatton then more power to you.

 

Hatton is one of the only fighters in recent years, to not go for the payday and put it all on the line. He went for the win. If he went to survive like nearly every other fighter who has fought Mayweather there is no doubt he would of seen out the fight.

Up until round 8 the fight was tight, although Mayweather ahead. It was still a fight. After the point deduction Hatton got reckless and took apart by the brilliant Mayweather.

Im not saying in anyway Hatton would have won, but he must be praised for the way he went about the fight and actually performed. So what if he got knocked out, he left it all in there and had some joy which is more that most can say.
