It is like saying how would Leonard's legacy be without Hagler. Does that change it a lot to fight a great fighter?

See this is exactly my problem. De La Hoya almost did have him beat and I don't think that was anywhere near the best version of De La Hoya. So what would have happened had he fought a prime De La Hoya, or a prime SSM? I personally think he would loose to at least one of them and perhaps both.

When I watched Mayweather/De La Hoya live. I didn't keep score, but I thought De La Hoya might have had one enough of the early rounds to get the win. When I watched it again a few years latter to score the bout. I was surprised how few rounds I scored for De La Hoya. I think Mayweather fought a younger De La Hoya. It would be a tight fight. De La Hoya's best window would be from 00-06 when Mayweather Sr. was in his cornor. I don't think Mosley bets him. Mosley's a very good boxer, but not as good as Mayweather. He has power and that can't be overlooked.
I think Mayweather is a lot like Ray Leonard, and I belive Benny Leonard. I think that if you put any of these three in a ring with someone in their weight class. They find a way to win. It's not that they are more skilled, or have physical advantages. I just think they find ways to win.

Maybe. The big question mark I have about Floyd is what would happen if he were to get hit two or three really good shots. (ie how's his chin?) and I also question his power. Mosley had him hurt in the second round of their fight, and a prime SSM is a much faster fighter.

I think Floyd is an amazing talent. he may even be without peer defensively. But, I just can`t see him hanging with Hearns, SRL and SRR... Thats just a short view at welter... I mean H2H. He resided at welter long enough to be in the conversation. My take on this is at some point, a great fighter has THAT fight where its not just about skills. It`s about having to be out of your comfort zone, and go to the well to get it done. I truly feel that against these fighters I mentioned, he would need more than jus slickness. These fighters possesed huge intangibles, heart, balls and a tremendous will to win even if it meant putting themselves at risk to win it. I just cant` see him beating these guys ...Almost forgot, the legacy question. What doesn`t help his legacy is that there is no signature win against another great fighter...

I think Mosley has a better chance at lightweight. This is not to suguest that he wasn't a very good welterweight. However from watching Mosley hurt Mayweather, it's clear that Mayweather knew what to do when hurt.

Who can you see hanging with Hearns, Leonard and Robinson at 147? There probely the best at least head to head welters ever.

Camacho at jrlight was faster a better boxer a brilliant tactician and a sturdy hitter. I'd take him anyday over Floyd at that weight. Also Arguello and Saddler. Canzoneri and maybe Chavez and Nelson.

If he retires undefeated, his standing will be very high...top 15. Give it time to sink in.

Floyd did put 40 million on the table for Pac. That is the most a fighter has ever been offered.

As time goes on, I'm starting to feel like the lack of a Pac fight isn't quite that important because it's becoming clearer that Pac wasn't all that great as a welterweight. It sort of like how Roy's legacy isn't really that tarnished by not fighting Dariusz. And Floyd shut down Pac's dad already.
