But then again, he also said in the same sentance that he'd 'beat Collins in two' rounds..

(ITV highlights of McCallum-Collins from Boston, Eubank ringside)

Benn was more naturally talented than Eubank and Toney put together. Not saying he was as good as either - he most certainly wasn't - but he was gifted with awesome punching leverages, and blessed with speed, strength and flexibility like few before him.

McCallum was VERY gifted, in that every shot seemed to be thrown effortlessly, like second nature... trebling jabs and hooks in sparring mid-way during sentances in conversation with sparring partner Merqui Sosa's trainer Pat Versace.

Jones was VERY gifted, of course. Simply unreal hand speed and reflexes.

Eubank and Toney were better-schooled than Benn or Jones, with short, planted shots via patience and with precison, and timed head slips, etc. Eubank was just a much better mover than James, and Toney a much more fluid infighter than Eubank.

I would say Toney was more of a natural boxer than Eubank, though Eubank was faster of foot, reflex and flurry.

Jones fought either dead guys , or a drained 2 death Toney .
Even Tarver was older than him & drug abused and Johnson was as old as Jones and somewhat smaller .
What does Jones have in his record ?
Vinny Pazienza ? Mike McCallum ? Tony Thornton , Jorge Vaca .
Check 4 their ages by the time they fought Jones , notice how smaller they were , and in Vaca's case it was supposed 2b a fight @ 154 lbs and Jones came in overw8 . He also has a supposedly prime and drained 2 death James Toney usually considered as his finest win , what n achievement .
And how did i 4get a 33 years old undersized Reggie Johnson and a KO over a

midget Montell Griffin in their rematch ?
Jones' finest victories might b his 10 rds decision over Jorge Castro whom was also significantly smaller and was never close 2 hurt in thir fight and his possibly premature stoppage over Merqui Sosa whom was probably shot by de time he fought Jones .

What a record does Jones have ..
yes , he had 2 very unconvincing decisions over Tarver & Hopkins , a stoppage over Clinton Woods and a convincing decision over Julio Gonzalez , whom i watched being humili8ed , domin8ed and what not vs Julian Leterlough . Maybe these last 2 were his finest victories 4eal .

Yes , i 4got that 1 2 , i did watch it though , a body shot KO over de John Ruiz of de 175 lbs division . Did i already mention that Jones fought dead men ? what was Hill's age by de time he fought Jones ? no way that was still de man whom managed 2 lose a decision 2 n aged Tommys Hearns . Not that he was really dead , just clearly past his prime never very good 2 begin with .

And Jones actually has a (very unconvincing BTW) decision over John Ruiz himself . no doubt , Jones' record shits over Pryor's & Ricardo Lopez' , might still b better than FMJ's :yep better than Ray Leonard's even .

My house would've been on a Eubank stoppage. A natural light-heavy/cruiser (ripped), 10 years younger and the mobile style to take MM out of his natural game. When Eubank would've put his punches together at an in-coming McCallum, it's wouldn't have lasted.

Mike himself conceeded defeat in a way, when saying 'The only way to beat Eubanks is to jump all over him.'

Do that, Mike, and you wouldn't have lasted long son.

How does that work over time?

I mean, if only 40 fighters can be great, say a decade goes by and along that time there are a handful of fighters who have the requisite skill and resume to be considered greats in their own right.

Do five guys who were previously all-time great suddenly become less so? Or since there are already 40 do the new guys just get denied their place?
