I'm a big Jones fan, but this **** is mental. In a boxing match, he wouldn't be able to throw a punch within a foot of Mayweather's head.

I always hate when people use reasons like "mma is real fighting" for why it is superior to boxing. Who cares? What practical application do sports like soccer, football, basketball have? People like them because they're entertaining and imo boxing is at least a million x more entertaining than homosexual grappling. Honestly the skill level so much better in boxing too. Going by the eye test i'd say Miguel Cotto is better at boxing than practically any fighter is at mma.

it's not even real fighting. Anything that has regulation isn't real fighting

Boxing has a richer history and looks cleaner aesthetically. While sometimes it might look boring to the casual observer, the technique at the top level is much more crisp and more pleasing to the eye of an afficionado of human-human combat

I always hate the mma vs boxing dick waving, as a long time fight fan why cant we just like and appreciate both

Also I know Jones as a boxer aint near Floyd in skill but dont you guys think the size factor would at least come in to some effect? Making it seem like easy work with a 60 or so pound differential

Any way as far as real street fighting goes im no expert and havent gone toe to toe with anyone in a while but neither sport is a real fight, fighting in the street has no rules no ref no limit, though the MMA guys knowing how to take a guy down and control them on the ground is a great asset, no they wouldnt arm bar or that **** but theyd know how to control the guy and pummel them on the ground

I don't watch that much MMA, but I've enjoyed it since it's inception years back. From what I've seen, JBJ is a bad fvcking man. I don't think he could catch Floyd cleanly, but he might be long enough to cut Floyd off and try to break down Floyd's body.

Obviously I think JBJ kills Floyd in an MMA match. The man is freak of nature long and strong.

Jones is an effective striker in MMA because he's unorthodox, throws a shitload of different strikes with his hands, elbows and feet, knows how to use his length and, most importantly, his opponents are afraid of the takedown.

His boxing at present is really sloppy. There's no way in hell that he'd be able to figure out how to land on Mayweather in a boxing match even with the difference in size.

Another high end striker named Machida gave him fits for 2 rounds on stand-up.

An elite boxer would take make him look silly in there.

In a boxing match he wouldn't land a glove.

And I know the MMA and wrestling enthusiasts will say there's no way Floyd could anticipate a takedown and prevent one without a background in it, but I think prime for prime, Floyd could time something down the middle either before or as he shoots, or side-step and restart. It would only take one shot IMO.

I love how MMAtards always think they would dominate in the street where theres no rules that resemble organized fighting. What're you gonna do when attempting to ground and pound some guy while his friend tries to kick a field goal with your head? Does the UFC train for that?
