Wish he stuck with Diaz but it seems Diaz is the one who left. He was a great fit

No, first he split with Evangelista because of scheduling priority disputes which turned into ugly family disputes. He fell back on nutritionist and assistant trainer Joe Santiago, who didn't know what he was doing and didn't correct basic mistakes Cotto was making going into the Pacquiao fight. Then, he wanted to get Diaz involved, as Santiago was simply not an experienced trainer, but Diaz said he didn't feel he was yet experienced enough on the pro game to do it. So they got Steward. He never lost with Steward. Then he hooked up with Pedro after he agreed. We can't guess what happened but it seems Pedro was frustrated with the way Cotto trained for Trout. If true, he has every reason to be upset, but as to why he left, who knows.

I love Cotto and hope Freddie can help him refine his game. To me, the best he's looked in the last 3-4 years was against Mayweather and Diaz was his trainer.

I think Ariza as his SNC coach is also part of the appeal for Cotto

Cotto is one of my all time favorite fighters but someone needs to slap him upside the head. Diaz is why Cotto still remains relevant.

Cotto is a loser. He should stick with Diaz, atleast he comes in shape.
If he ever wants to be top echelon he is gonna have to go back down to 147 instead of hanging out at 154

Cotto is just simply stupid and he's the type that needs a trainer who lets him do what he wants a la Freddie Roach.

His lateral movement and punching on the move was increased. His hand placement in defense was improved. His composure was improved. His right hand was improved. Etc.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned what Roach could teach him, implement with Cotto to learn. I repeat, you never stop learning. The moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop learning.

    Irrelevant.

Irrelevant. You think Hopkins has stopped learning?

I've already listed the improvements Diaz made.

    Margarito what?

    Cotto 2 >>>>> Cotto 1
Margarito 1 >>>>> Margarito 2 - but the improvements in Cotto were there to be seen. The bout playing out like it did was more down to Cotto improving than it was Margarito being worn.

Diaz did a great job with him but if he is considering switching trainers again he should think of going to Mayweather Sr. because the real big issue with Cotto now is that he stopped his body work and only throws one shot at a time. If he can throw 3 punch combo he can be a threat to Canelo or maybe even Martinez now
