I'm as cynical as they come as far as PEDs go. Truly nothing would surprise me, but it has to be acknowledged that Sexy was coming off of knee surgery, and he's an old fighter. The dude has always had great reflexes and great cardio. There is more reason to suspect other fighters.

I don't get your logic. If he was always using Peds, what possible reason would he have to stop using them? He was fighting in his home country where he could probably get away with anything. And coming off an injury where he couldn't keep himself in shape during his time off, he has an even bigger incentive to use peds to make up for it.

    1. Hes 38
    2. He recently had surgery on his knee
    3. He broke his hand in the fight
    4. Murray is a good,under rated fighter.

It had nothing to do with PEDS

I believe you are spot on with respect to the PED use, and all the fighters you noted are indeed suspicious. MArquez was obviously roiding for Pac fight, who roided on his way up in weight. Mayweather is also in that group. It is just not humanly possible to maintain the mobility, strength and speed in your mid to late 30's. It just does not happen.

I loved the interview with Martinez when a reporter asked him about TRT and Sergio acted like he didn't know what it was; he was clearly lying. Remember that?

I would not be that surprised at all, but its all just speculation because of the variables:

Had a recent surgery, and got his ass whooped for a round where most fighters would have stayed down.
Had some tough fights in the past, and simply lost his competative edge against Murray, a man he should have beaten easy.
Age took its toll slowly and we are looking at the final stage of Martinez's career

Nothing about it screams "He is on Peds" to me

    Excellent post!

I'm not going to accuse any boxers or athletes of using PEDs or HGH or smth. But if you believe they are clean than you should believe that Santa exists ;)

It's not an overstatement to say that more than 95% top athletes (not only boxers) have used something to improve their strength and/or speed.

Saleta and Tony Thompson are completely right that PEDs and other things should be allowed for everyone who competes at high level.

Professional sport without steroids/PEDs/HGH etc would be completely different. There are so many naive people who believe PEDs are used only by 5% athletes and call them "cheaters".

I think even he he's roiding that this wouldn't have ben the problem he would have found a way to pass the test anyway. It's the age, the layoff and the injury he is a fighter who like RJJ depends on his athletic abililities so it's no surprise he underperformed. And even that his pwoer wasn't there has probably something to do with it. I think there a different types of punchers some are just strong and/or big and whatever and/or are jsut great at putting their whole body behind a punch and then there are fighters like RJJ and Sergio (who both looked like they have no power in their last fights) who punch hard because of their handspeed and athletisism and both of them have lost that or at least not shown in their last fights
