I live in Copenhagen, and I actually bumped into Jimmy Montoya in a shopping mall last week. We had a little chat (he was really cool and down to earth), and although he (obviously) wouldn't reveal all their strategies, he more than implied, that they are going for a KO-victory for Kessler... I wouldn't be surprised if Kessler comes out with two guns blazing for round one, in order to stop Froch from gaining momentum. Froch HATES fighting off the back foot, and the Froch camp probably expect Kessler to be cautious in the first rounds. Wouldn't it be a great surprise, if we got Kessler KO1??
I keep saying it, but I can't get away from the fact that Kessler was put on ***** Street by Alan Green. While Green is a big puncher, what's more notable is that Kessler has never looked like getting stopped before (at least as far as I'm aware), and suddenly a fighter like Green has him seriously hurt. I know any fighter can get hurt by a big shot regardless of where they're at in their career, but I've never seen Kessler vulnerable like that before. I think he has declined and his punch resistance is diminished. It's a Froch stoppage for me.
I kind of hope it's a good fight and Froch pulls it off so they can do a third one. I'll be putting my money on Kessler though. I think he's a better fighter now without the eye issues, and he's been getting great sparring (Cleverly, Lee, Groves).
Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if it was just a draw. Everyone here has made great cases as to why both guys could win; Froch's improvement, Kessler's decline, Kessler's better boxing skills vs. Froch's recklessness. Whatever, it will be one of the best fights of the year, I hope whatever happens they do a third.
Kessler would have to win wide to get a close away-from-home decision, and I can't see that happening. Barring a KO, and I hope it doesn't happen to either fighter, Froch wins on points.
Boxing wins! I'm rooting for Froch but Kesslers a warrior and he'll take him through 12 rounds of hell. I'm not gonna make a prediction or even score the fight I'm just gonna enjoy this one.
Another factor: Froch became the father of a little baby girl last friday. I (being the father of two girls ) can imagine Froch losing a bit of the mental focus (and sleep) up to the fight. Unless he moves away from his family altogether for the final preparations (which propably would affect him mentally as well) I don't see him going in at 100% mentally....
its too close for any one to be sure, i think it will be a SD possibly in frochs favour setting up nicely for a 3rd fight
I believe the beating Froch put on Kessler in the first fight (well on his eye at least) as took its toll on Kessler and Froch wins this time. Maybe even by late stoppage.
He was never down before. Kessler has a great chin maybe a better chin than Froch ?. Remember The Green fight was at 175. It will be a close fight again
