Just go back to being a slugging bum-basher, Vernon. At least then you're TV-friendly.

Paulie breaking down "weekend *****" was epic. I would have loved to see the looks on some of the old reporters faces.

    Round 7

Paris is ambling backwards and shuffling his entire top half in a swirl, making Perez miss his long power shots and probing jabs while touching him up with occasional short left jabs and softly swiped uppercuts. Paris leans back into the ropes and catches Perez with a sharp counter, stunning him. Paris doesn't try to follow up on the advantage, instead going back to defense.

    10-9 Paris

    67-66 Paris

Looks like Paris wants to work on things more than he wants to fight. That could come back to haunt him.

    Round 8

Paris is slowly backhanding up his jab and luring Perez in with a lazy scuffing glide in reverse. Perez comes forward and lowers his arms to look for body shots. Paris starts to land counters and Perez doesn't bother lifting his guard, so Paris lands about a dozen unanswered. Perez is showing off his bravado and chin, and sure enough Paris isn't hurting him. Lots of distance between them in connects this round, however - mainly weighted by that one sequence. Paris resumes his defensive posture and twists on the ropes as Perez fishes for body shots. Counter left hook by Paris. Right hand by Perez, grazing as Paris abruptly jerks straight back.

    10-9 Paris

    77-75 Paris

    Round 9

Perez explodes from the gate, firing long body shots as they come together answering the bell from their corners. Wild sustained attack by Perez. Paris turns and rolls his body away, carrying his left arm down at his side. Counter jabs by Paris. Combination by Paris starting with a light left hook and building up into a tee-off. Perez shoves Paris into the ropes and lands a hard overhand right over a jab. He immediately smells blood and repeats the combination a few times. Paris sinks back against the ropes and slips with swiveling movements to either side, smirking. Paris is putting up a turtle shell now, seemingly thinking what to do in reply to Perez's increased aggression. Body shots by Perez, jabbing through Paris' guard up close.

    10-9 Perez

    86-85 Paris

I'm picking up my tickets for Lopez/Maidana this week. I can't wait. Meeting up with Montero and some friends at the fights, taking my boss to his first big fight. It's going to be sweet.

    Round 10

Paris is circling right and keeping a wide berth. He puts out a long jab and then tries staving Perez off with both wrists pushing down on the base of his neck. Big straight power combo by Perez cornering Paris. Perez gets a few through cleanly and Paris shakes his head with a grin. BIG combo by Perez catching Paris lazily sauntering across the ring, climbing from body to head. Paris answers back and fights his way out to open water. Paris abandons his offense, not wanting to brawl, and gets on his bike floating jabs and slipping back and inward with that shoulder roll. Perez is following, doubling his jab and hammering over the top with his right hand. Paris holds. Perez leans forward, catching a double Paris hook on his arms. Whipping right to the kidney by Paris as Perez bows his head down low under his armpit. Light uppercut combo by Paris. Overhand by Perez. Straight right counter by Paris. Perez is grinding in low, going to the body. Uppercuts by Paris, softly landing. Big overhand right by Perez.

    10-9 Perez

    95-95
