Kubrat Pulev is not that good!

Pulev is a homeless man's Tony Tucker.

 

Pulev's probably the best of a bad bunch, but I'm not wholly impressed by him. He's tough and has a true fighter's mentality, pumps out a decent jab, and uses his size well to impose himself on his opposition. He's deceptively hard to hit, seems to possess a good jaw, and has a bit of power in that looping right hand of his. On the other hand, he lacks a bit of natural fluidity, frequently fights down to his opponent's level, and is offensively quite simple. There's little real variety in his combinations, and he rarely throws anything more complex than a one two, and almost nothing to the body. I'm also quite skeptical how he stands up against any concerted attack from a large and relatively skillful opponent, determined to break through his jab. His lean back style works for evading single shots, but against a sustained assault his hands down style might get him into trouble.

He's better than Fury, and better than pretty much everyone outside the Klits, but he's not exactly that red hot prospect which everyone is looking for IMO.

 

Who cares what you think you dumbass redneck. Fury will get his glass jaw shattered, the you'll say he was bum all along like you usually do. You've been wrong about so many boxers over the years it's laughable. Stick with Nascar or whatever your trailer park neighbors are into.

 

Very fair and accurate criticism. In the past he has fought down to the level of his opposition and his offensive arsenal is limited (at least in use, he does have short hooks and uppercuts we just havent really seen them used) He does throw his right hand wide and slap with his left hook a bit.

If Pulev was black, he was 17-0 with wins over Page, Oluokun, Skelton, Batchelder, Guinn, Vidoz, Rossy, Pedura, Walker, Sprott, Dimitrenko and Ustinov he'd be touted as a potential GOAT.

Show me a resume of ANY fighter with less than 20 fights that is better.

This forums problem is they discount solid gatekeepers as bums. They call fringe contenders journeymen, and contenders.....well, they are cans or club fighters.

All the above are journeymen, fringe contenders or gatekeepers. Hell, Dimitrenko and Ustinov are both still contenders.

Im a Fury fan, and I don't really like Pulev, but to not rate him is absurd.
Anyone who beats Pulev will have arguably the single best win outside of a Klitshko. And that include Potvetkin and Haye. deal:deal
