all of the **** over the last six months, the cancelled fights, his whole demeanor during the build up, the gaunt look after the weigh in, and the fact that Gonalez was certainly no mug, a dangerous skilled ****er no doubt

but I felt ricky broke his heart, I think he'll be better from now on, that will have done him the world of good

Nah, he was injured, of course Sky will say Ricky broke his heart, they've got to hype their fighter. It went from Gonzalez is way ahead, to Burns is destroying him on the cards in the space of 1 round.

Typical Sky. I thought Watt was doing well for once, and then it all went tits up.

He seemed to have a problem with his right leg in the 8th, Watt said they were working on it, but they were saying a broken wrist. In one of the rounds he slipped forwards awkwardly, cant remember which round.

His trainer couldnt believe it! Neither could I if I'm being honest.

I had it 89-83 Gonzalez before the "stoppage". The only round Ricky won on my scorecard was the 9th and a tied 8th and I was being as fair as possible.

Ricky and team should think themselves lucky tonight, learn from it and move on.

    Congrats Ricky and team.

that was a very suspicious ending IMO

Sky refused to adress it, instead talked about "scottish heart","bravery"

that opponent wasnt even really hurt in there at all

wouldnt surprise me if he was slipped 100k , cause he almost cost eddie hearn millions going forward

then suddenly quit for no reason

His first test in a long time, It was much needed. Jose has world class skills and was a far more worthy challenger then Mitchell.

Glenn MCrory and Nelsons summary of that fight was a joke much like the out of nowhere quit job

all this baloney about burns determination was cringeworthy, completley untrue and just shows that they are told what to say

    It's all a big conspiracy.

The idea that a fighter quits because they don't quite fancy it isn't exactly so ludicrous to not be believed

The referee walked up to him and he shook his head, I said myself "this guy is quitting", his own trainer looked flabbergasted, Gonzalez quit, pure and simple

Look at Danny Williams vs Mark Potter, you don't quit due to a broken wrist in a fight you are winning for a WORLD TITLE, especially "suspiciously" after you've been getting your arse handed back to you for the last few rounds

Gonzalez problem? he's not used to hitting someone who then hits him back

and I really, really liked the look of Gonzalez coming into this fight (or rather, worried about it, depending on how you look at it)

I said looked like he wanted to quit..then he quit... despite his trainers obvious protests...nothing suspicious about that to me

yeah and lets be honest every second he was competing he was dismantling Burns and won every round

then stopped doing anything and threw in the towel

while the test was happening Ricky failed every aspect of it. that is a fact

    Im weary of that ending

Burns was criminally outclassed tonight by a future star. Gonzakez was unbelieveable. However......ppl sayin it was a fix should take a breather. The look on both the trainers face, and JG at the end (he was resigned to the defeat - treated the decision with dignity, not a stern face) says it all. He totally gassed. Give it two yrs and JG will have one strap......minimum

Broke his heart simple as that! Burns pulled it out the fire but Gonzalez was shot and had nothing left. That was a true champions performance and Ricky will gain a lot from this, yes there are negatives but he can take many positives too. How many times has Froch grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat and it has done him no harm. Dry your tears craney

Burns got schooled, Gonzalez batterd him for 6 rounds out of the 8 and then quit why i don't know.

Bizzare ending funny how sky didn't even do an interview with him afterward.

just going on about scottish bravery and bull****, it was really a case of him quitting rather that Ricky making him quit.

I give credit to burns though he took some beasty shots and has a good chin but was thoroughly outboxed tonight.

Anyone else would've caved before the 7th, never mind the 7th round itself, so all this conspiracy/fix chat is so far wide of the mark it's laughable. He wasn't supposed to win but he nearly took Ricky's head off a few times in the fight.

Btw I had Gonzalez winning 6 rounds so Ricky could've got the draw on my card by winning the last few.......what about everyone else?

The dog-turd in a suit that is Glen McCrory spouting his usual inane hyperbole in the aftermath.

I dont know what to say. A bit gobsmacked if I'm honest.

He gave Ricky a boxing lesson for at least 7-8 rounds. Ricky just couldnt figure out that little half step Gonzalez was taking. Gonzalez proved basically everything I predicted he would do, except for the finish. Gonzalez is a very awkward fighter, he seems to make punches miss with the the very slightest of movements. He doesnt seem to move his head or upper body that much, but somehow he makes punches miss. Ricky just couldnt get to grips with that all night. At times I actually thought I was watching Chris Eubank and not Jose Gonzalez.

Jim Watt after about 5 rounds - "Nobody saw this coming"

Congrats to Ricky and team, hopefully they can learn from this one and never forget it. Theoretically it should make Ricky a better fighter.
