    LSC just barely got to 122 and I don't see Abner dropping right back down again. Russell Jr isn't going to happen soon.

    No it means that they are at different stages in their careers. The networks wont pay Mares as much (or cover his fights at all) if he does not fight certain fighters. When you get to PBF and Pac stage they have a helluva lot more say in who they fight. Both May and Pac have fought top guys over the last 5 years or so but they get slack for not fighting who "fans" want them to fight (mainly each other) and on what terms (ie catchweights). These guys are in the drivers seat Mares is not (at least yet) . . . If Mares becomes the man he will have fighters crawling out of the woodwork, and swimming across oceans to fight him.

    And we might be seeing again why that isn't a good thing for the sport. Mares won't ever be The Man because he's not going to be fighting at a high enough division to get that kind of attention, pull and money in a marketing/promotional sense. Neither Mayweather or Pacquaio got it until they ventured into Welterweight territory.
