On the night I thought Ricky was behind but defo won the last 2 rounds very clearly and I could hear Gonzalez winch when hit,however championships are won over 12 rounds that's what we train for that's the reason we won superiour fitness and stamina.
Big credit to Gonzalez for such a tough fight

 

Billy, who would you prefer for Ricky out of Abril and Vasquez?

 

Based on last night Burns should stay far away from both. Plenty of great competative fights that can be made at Lightweight for Burns that are not style nightmares.

He has to be commended for his heart courage and fitness. We can all have a bad day at the office which hopefully is all this is.

Anyone who has ever sparred knows sometimes you get in there and just don't have your timing which is what it looked like to me with ricky.

Its all experience, I do believe he got away with one to an extent but thats boxing. I look forward to seeing him return to his best in his next fight.

Plenty of great fights, you're right, but I love to see fighters try to unify the ABCs. I actually think he'd do better against them, party because of last night's lessons, but also because they two are much better known and would be easier to plan and prepare for. Then the fact he wouldn't be so rusty and have quite as much of a reach difference to contend with, albeit only slightly. Both, Vasquez especially, bring their own stylistic dangers of course but I see them as very much 50/50 fights made more winnable in Glasgow.

 

I think his style really really supprised them which is something they should look into.

In the information age they really should have been able to get hold of more than a handfull of Youtube clips.

Disagree with Rob saying to keep away from those fighters. He just needs to prepare for them.

 

I just don't get why the guy quit... Even in 8 and 9 when he was injured and gassed he took next to zero damage and managed to evade almost anything of note. Why didn't he just dance for three rounds and keep Ricky at distance with his jab. Huge fail IMO. He had that fight won and made it look easy... why oh why?

 

From the looks of it he just didn't have the stomach for it when it got tough.
