    Come on now

Adrien Broner is a much, MUCH more stationary target than Gonzalez, and way more vulnerable to standard workrate

but then again, people said the same thing after Vazquez looked like **** against Quintero, it's easy to judge a fighter on an off night

    Wel
He looked ok carrying his bag home Craney,by the way you were right he was very very good, however titles are fought over 12 rounds not 6 or 7 rounds and in the 8th you could hear Gonzalez winch and visibly slow down.
credit to Gonzalez he was a class act but inexperience at the higher level found him out eventually after some scarey moments.
    AND STILL

Congrats on another win Billy. Considering all the other champions in the division are very slick boxers like Gonzalez, but with that expirience, are you as confidet as you were before for Ricky to go into unification fights. There were times where Ricky looked quite ordinary tonight.

To be fair I went home and watched the fight again and I now feel the 8 months out the ring may have affected us,however has I've said titles are won over 12 rounds and Ricky was finishing much the stronger.
I would have no hesitation allowing Ricky boxing any of the other champions, let's just say it wasn't his best night at the office but he pulled through:good

Ricky doesn't have his best night=he's rubbish now? Some people on here are morons. Rounds 1-5 he was blocking nearly everything, hardly the clinic described here. Thought it was the body shots that stopped chelo. Saw him grimace and slow down. still, not ricky's best but he won, onwards and upwards

I didn't like the look of Ricky mindset wise coming into this one, but he did what he had to do and while the term " broke his heart" may annoy some people. I think Ricky did just that, he may say it was a broken wrist that ended his night, but in reality it was a broken heart, his courage was sucked out of him

Billy, you obviously know this game much better than me, but in my opinion Ricky was really telegraphing the right hand and forcing his jab last night, that's not like him, can you guys get back to basics and is Ricky only going to fight September at the earliest?

Watching it back now, never mind his hand/wrist, he looks absolutely cream *******ed in his corner. He looks half-dead at the end of the 9th.

I didn't buy the injury though will if the evidence pops up. He had just shot his bolt.

You could tell the way his pride was dented the way he was trying to wrap his wrist with a towel.

He was ****ed. He couldn't suck it up and he quit!

He will have to live with that.

Quick question, who do we think wins a rematch between these two? Personally I think if Gonzalez improves his stamina and paces himself he will win a shutout.

Would team Burns consider a rematch if Gonzalez wanted one?

Agree about the right had, he always seemed to be looking for it when it wasn't even there, as a result he has throwing it where was out of range and leaving himself vulnerable as he was over reaching. Kept trying to throw straight rights to the body when it had very little success that I could see. JG couldn't fight on the Backfoot all of Ricky's success was when he was backing JG up and just kept it straight, simple punches, everything off the jab.

Last nights fight will benefit Burns no end, when you mix at true world level you are going to get scares like that, Burns showed a champions heart and toughed it out.

I also think over time the win will look better and better because Gonzalez I think will pick up a title or two and have a good career himself.

Yea I agree, when you can have a bad night and still pull it out in any way it's the sign of a champ. All this "he quit, it's nothing to do with Ricky" nonsense is ridiculous. So nobody else has managed to make him quit so it's obviously not a regular thing. When will the lad get some respect, every fight there are people wanting to detract from the victory and he keeps winning his fights. Give the lad some respect

Burns will never get any credit from some people.

He could move up to 147, shut out Manny Pacquiao and people would still say something negative.

He was stood on his head for prolonged spells, but found a way to come back into the fight and get the W, regardless of the circumstances. Now he needs to kick on, he's had nearly a year off after what was really a tune up fight, and get the big fights that are out there for him.
