I'm impressed you're showing that kind of class towards fighters who withdraw from fluke injuries. Shouldn't you be ragging on Gonzalez for being a quitter about now? http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=363238
Now we know why Burns dont want to face Broner:think (and i hate moron Broner but in the ring he would easily dismantle Burns)
No one has mentioned that Ricky hadn't been in a ring for a year, little bit of ring rust I think, it was abit suspect after the 7 th when he gassed they were rubbing his legs like ****! The first 7 rounds was a utter schooling, burns was lucky I think to get through them but fair play to the jock he showed he has balls!
Burns looked clueless when facing a slick black man. Unfortunately this black man had no stamina. Broner would do the wee Scot before the 7th.
He didn't look too bad on stamina side, he looked a little winded, yet easily defended against 4-6 punch Burns combos. The problem was not throwing anything back something you must, even with a broken hand, jab with the other or something. This fight had nothing to do with stamina, nobody quits his world title chance because of that.
Just rewatched round 7, after Chelo threw it all on Burns he gets hit by an uppercut and after that his legs just completely lose their bounce, whether or not he broke his hand he wasn't able to fight the same fight after that punch.
Like I said last night. Hearns was panicking due to Burns being en route to losing on his first promotion of him and dealt with the situation as quickly as he could. :hey
Ricky got out of jail last night and of course he would've been dismantled by Broner on that form. But he had an off night, just like many fighters do and still managed to come out on top. What do people expect? Us genuine fans to abandon him because he had a poor performance? That's not what real fans do.They admit they're guy was poor and get behind him for the next fight. I'd like to think this was down to the bad year he's had and being a bit too keen to put on a show.I said on here before the fight and many times in the past that I always worry when Ricky is heavily favoured to win.He always seems to make hard work of mediocre guys and does much better when many are picking him to lose. It's all well with the benefit of hindsight, but Kevin Mitchell was heavily backed to pull off a win by many pundits and posters and his odds dropped heavily on the day of the fight if I'm not mistaken. Ricky was poor, but he still has the belt and I'll still be supporting him. Not all of us on ESB are fairweather fans who drop their guy after one bad performance. And I know Michigan Warrior is one of the more sensible Broner fans unlike the type who dropped Chavez Jnr from his "team" after one bad night. Point being,I know MW knows that was just a poor night at the office.
