If McDonnell keeps putting on performances like that he will be hard to ignore and will get recognized some great fights to be made involving him.

I went to the keepmoat to watchit,he gave a very solid performance, made ceja swing and miss allnight, boxed smartly and controlled most rounds.shame there wasn't more in the ground id say bout 2000-3000 tops.although they made a lot of noise when he was announced world champion.not too sure bout the third scorecard though 118-110 is nonsense, first too were about right.good close fight but clearly frustrated ceja and deserved to win.

good post. The ability for a fighter to continue improving throughout his career is one of the best attributes to have over skills, speed and power. I consider burns and geale to be the perfect examples of this, notoriously hungry fighters who continue improving in the gym constantly even after reaching the stage where many begin to stagnate.

I said last night he'd improved in the same way as had Burns, and tipped a points win.Glad I was right.Watched on TV and the lad done extremely well.Hope he can defend a few times at home now.Bit alarming that the young heavyweight, from Doncaster, fought in front of virtually nobody, and did well.Stuart Hall boxed well also.Hope they can build on this.Definitely no complaints.

Agree with the op.... nothing more to add, but a nice story from the night:
I was talking to Jon Jo Irwin in the bar before the fight and the Lonsdale belt Jamie carried out to the ring was actually Jon Jo's which he had lent to Jamie because although McDonnell did win the belt he never won it outright.
A thoroughly nice guy Jon Jo (for anyone that remembers him) as is Jamie.

I have respect. He fought the most important fight of his life and was possibly paid nothing last night.

  8. I didn't get why so many were writing him off, he clearly earned the shot after his performances the last few years most notable going to France to win the Euro title and then beating that tough little ****er Jamoye and he clearly won that fight as well 8-4 in rounds at worst.

He's a top lad who's done himself and all us proud i just hope Hobson gets his **** together and promotes the Kid properly and please no first defense against Stuey Hall.

  9. Actually the best thing he could do for his career now is jump ship to Hearn at least then he'd get the proper treatment he deserves although i reckon he'll stay with Hobson out of loyalty

Well as for TV maybe Hobson can try and get a deal with BT Sports when or after they go on air, same for Hatton and others

Made up for Jamie, quality performance, I thought Ceja would stop him. Such a shame only about 500 people watched it on Crimetime.

Hopefully Hobson and Hearn can do some sort of deal and get Jamie fighting on Sky Sports.

TBF, Napa's win over Ballone was a fantastic showing of heart and determination.
