If you had any idea what "hypejob" actually means,you'd realise that Burns is about as far from a hypejob as you can get.

Burns fans aren't pretending that was anything other than an unimpressive performance,but the fact is he still has the belt and he has it fair and square.
If Burns can't learn from that,then he'll get found out soon enough.However,unlike some so called "fans" we don't all abandon ship after one unimpressive performance.
You see that's what it means to actually support a boxer.We're not all bandwagon jumpers who get on board because of the colour of someone's skin or drop a guy after one bad performance.

 

Would you acknowledge that he was perfectly willing to go in against Vasquez and if anything,it's Vasquez who didn't fancy it?

Whether Gonzalez 'punched himself out' is debatable--he was fighting the same in rounds 8 and 9 as he had from 1-6, just throwing fewer punches. He didn't show signs of being gassed other than a decreased workrate.

Burns landed an uppercut. Looked like it hurt. Did it take anything out of Gonzalez? Probably not, judging by the fact that he came back and continued to beat Burns up.

Bottom line is Burns was in the process of being un-titled and his opponent got injured through nothing that Burns did. The opponent decided he couldn't continue or that it wasn't worth continuing and retired.

So now Team Burns has all the footage of Gonzalez that they need, but they will avoid the hell out of the rematch. They can make much more money fighting Rees, Murray, and Mitchell, and those are all fights Burns will win and look great in. A Gonzalez rematch would be the most valuable fight for Burns if he's preparing for Vasquez, but they'll avoid it because it's a fight he stands a good chance of losing, and there goes everything.

 

Except he wasn't because the way the fight was progressing Burns would have got, at the very least, a draw.

Obviously they won't give him the rematch - why would they? He was beaten fair and square. Time to move on.

No, not just anyone punches themselves out.

Top class fighters do not tend to punch themselves out because.
1.They have trained for 12 hard rounds
2.They're experienced enough to know how to pace themselves.

Gonzelez was used to hitting guys a few times and them falling over.

He didnt know how to deal with an actual world level fighter who had a great engine,heart and a strong chin.

So by punching himself out, he proved he wasnt ready for world level yet, despite his obvious talents

 

and yet Burns still has a better resume than Broner, he lost to PDL, whos his best win ? Antonio DeMarco ? Gavin Rees ? behave

And the fight was progressing that way because....wait for it....GONZALEZ WAS ****ING INJURED.

A Gonzalez without a broken wrist would have continued to dominate and at best have lost the 11th-12th if Ricky got desperate and went for broke.

What I want to see is if Burns can use that experience to beat Gonzalez. If Gonzalez injures himself again then **** him and his glass wrist, but I think it'd be interesting to see if Burns can adjust to him. If he can't then he for damn sure can't beat Vasquez.

 

Dang looks like I missed a good scrap. So Burns struggled with an unknown? That happens alot in boxing and should raise Gonzales's stock where he won't be an unknown anymore. If Gonzales was a poor man's version of Vasquez and Burns struggled Vasquez might get overconfident when they do fight, but he's always been a consummate pro. Titere actually had a similar thing happen where he looked like **** before the Gesta fight. I still think the Vasquez-Burns bout will be a good fight and tho both have contradictory styles to beat the other, if both bring their A game Vasquez should win, unless Burns gets a gift decision at home.

Why is he lucky? he was not going to lose the fight even if Gonzalez wasn't gassed (or his legs had recovered from the uppercut in round 7) and had continued

He wasn't going to lose on the cards and probably would have forced a stoppage

He's not going to come up against someone that stylistically bad for him anytime soon (the combination of skill, awkwardness and huge reach) but he will have learned from it no doubt, and the fight will have served him well after the 9 months lay off

I can't wait to see how these 'top' fighters like Vasquez handle Burns seeing as he is no good now, going by the ESB forum, they should win no problem :smoke
