Thought the lad did fantastically well. He weathered the early assault, boxed and moved well and fought when he needed to.

Ceja was more limited than I expected, had no right hand, but still a very tough opponent all the same.

Hope McDonnell gets the recognition he deserves.

Wouldn't be surprised to see his first defence against Stu Hall on the Kell Brook bill in September

Hopefully somewhere picks the repeat up. Biggest moment of the lads life and no one seen it.

They're too busy blowing smoke up Ricky Burns butt pipe for escaping getting beaten by the skin of his nuts.McDonnell is the real star of the weekend, hopefully we get better coverage on his future fights.

I know it's a shame there's so much focus on Burns and hardly any on this.

    It was a great win

    1. At one of the lower weights
    2. Very limited viewership
    3. Unknown opponent
    4. Paper title

No doubt it's unfair there hasn't been much publicity, but it is to be expected.

    Paper title

The Ibf strap is one of the most legit titles outhere, they're one of the very few bodies that don't just give titles away so calling it a paper title is laughable.

The fact that McDonnell and his opponent were not very well known may have been the contributing factors,Sky should have been covering the fight or at least shown a replay British fighters winning world titles isn't exactly something that happens quite regularly so it's a real shame.

It's not surprising same night as the Burns fight and on Crimetime what was anyone expecting it was bound to be swept under the carpet.

He beat a completely unknown Mexican for a vacant belt. That doesn't make him world champion. It's a paper title.

Nothing against McDonnell though, he deserves more recognition than he's got for sure.

He did not win against a champion. Not even against a guy who went 12 rounds before. That is what he means with paper title.

Very pleased for him an excellent performance. I was surprised he got to fight for it at home which possibly made all the difference.

And, yes, the ibf is a proper world title he's not an interim champ...

Would be very surprised if Hobson doesn't work with Hearn on Jamie's first defense. The lad deserves all the exposure in the world after what he's achieved over the last few years.
