Jones has a pretty good legacy. And in his prime he had power and he knocked guys out with one punch. Look at the Virgil Hill. McCallum,Toney,Hopkins fights. He beat all of them relatively easy.
RJJ should not get a pass for his losses. He got KO'd mulitple times. Hopkins and Floyd have constantly worked on their craft and adjusts/adjusted with father time. RJJ never adjusted and when his reflexes went he knew no other way to fight. If you want to hold RJJ's win over Hopkins to a high standard than the same could be said when Hopkins became better and has a W over RJJ.
One thing I'd like to point out about Roy is his continuance of getting dominated and embarrassed at this stage of his career. Not a lot of people will agree with me but when a fighter who's shot isn't willing to retire it's only a matter of time before his losses start to tax his legacy. Longevity is highly underrated in the boxing community. I have no idea why. Fighters who are consistent or get better over time are special.
it is amazing how some of the fans want to give Roy passes for his loses but we all know History wont
I never knew losses when a fighter was past his prime effected legacy atsch Guess Ali's is not as great then since he lost to Holmes Guess Kevin McBride is all time great HW since he beat Tyson ! Or SRL is considered a bum now since Comacho and Terry Norris both knocked him out ! I swear some fans of today are full blown ******s !
I agree RJJ recent record does him no favours legacy-wise, but for people who can look at him at his peak, he's above Mayweather - to be fair, Ali's performances 1978+ haven't affected his legacy and I hope RJJ is remembered in the same way
This, i can not get answer why Floyd doesnt try to win MW belt it would be great for his legacy:think Roy took that kind of a risk and succeeded:yep
Well put, Roy was an awesome talent but his resume doesn't come near that of Floyd's, and he'll be remember as a once great fighter who fought to long past it. :good
not likely. Bhop was green, Toney was his best win, and Ruiz is as well. People act like if Ruiz is like worth 4-5 fights on here.
Well Jones looks better on film, is proven at a higher level and has achieved more as a boxer. I didn't think they'd be any doubt that he's going down as the greater boxer.
x2. When you look at Floyd's resume you see a lot of big names like A list celebrites. Roy got a few but a lot more of b list celebrites. Also after roy became irrelevant he fought more risky fights but he is getting sparked.
You think Valero was better than Willie Pep. Your opinion on any subject regarding boxing has no cred. No cred whatsoever :deal
