Belfast show tomorrow night - best small hall bill of 2013??

If all small hall shows were as evenly matched as this then every show would be full!

Strong squad. Practically picks itself like. Whats that McComb fella at 60 like? Also what happened to Michael McDonagh and DOJ?

M Mcdonagh is injured or finished and no disrespect to DOJ he hasnt won a senior title since 2008.As for McComb is technically good and is very very tall.

Ya, very strong squad. It was interesting to see that Barnes, Nevin and Sheehan were picked having missed the seniors through injury. I believe that all 3 would beat Myers, Geraghty and Turner anyway, but there seemed to be no appeals or requests for box-offs, which is a change from previous years.

McComb seems very good. Ridiculously tall for his weight class. He beat Bates in the final this year (Bates had beaten DOJ in the semis by 5 or 6 points). As regards McDonagh, I've heard different rumours. The main one seems to be that he became disillusioned with the sport and is now focusing on bodybuilding :think

Not really. To date this title has generally been fought over 8 rounds, and it makes sense as that means that anyone who fights for it puts themselves in the position of being eligible for the Irish title. The majority of fighters contesting the belt aren't 10 round fighters (well not yet) anyway.

Although the O'Hara vs Kelly fight possibly should of been contested over 10.
Typically I'm against the creation of extra belts, but if this belt is used as a sort of eliminator for the Irish title, and maybe helps to increase the standard of Irish title fights and prevent a repeat of something like Tennyson vs Coveney happening in the future, well then I'm all in favour.
