By no means am i saying he is on there level yet, those 3 are top ten mexican atgs, mares is very young, and is on the fast track to that level if he keeps it up. When comparing his resume in the smaller weights to theres, he actually stacks up well, he just lacks that one GREAT WIN (morales-pac1, MAB-Hamed & Morales wins) Hes probably 3 or 4 good wins awaqy imo, wins over p4p rigo & donaire would help his case... Hes still young also, and will accomplish alot more

    Comparing MARES/MORALES RESUME

Terrible: jesus chavez, guty espadas 2x, carlos hernandez, mccolough, chi, jr jones, zarragoza, MAB1, PAC1

MARES: Yonny perez, agbeko 2x, darchinyian, moreno, morel, ponce de leon

Mares is still very young, prime. Hes got a damn good resume, but he needs some great wins to match morales victories over Pac and MAB

problem for him is that GB's roster at the weight is pretty thin.

If he beat Guillermo Rigondeaux then I'd rate him higher than Barrera and Morales.

Mares is as neo old school as it gets. That guy can is on the path to be viewed as an ATG? Is he Mexican or Mexican American?

Uhh try never. What fight have you ever seen Terrible/Barrera/JMM resort to low blows because they were getting their ass handed to them? Not once. End of thread and let's please stop this nonsense of comparing people to ATG's who were from a golden age of 122/126/130 lb'ers. They would have KO'd mares and made him retire early. What ****ing clowns you guys are...

He was born in Guadalajara, moved to Southern Cali as a young kid and started getting into **** on the streets as a young teenager. Dad sent him back to Mexico at 15 where he took up boxing and became a successful amateur, representing Mexico prior to turning pro. He's got a really unique double-edged marketability about him because he reps Mexico, but spent a lot of his time and lives/trains in the USA and speaks both English and Spanish perfectly.

"I'm not here to take no easy fights."
