I'm pretty sure he'd be lumpy too if he faced those three on thier primes.

He really could do with moving to Top Rank then he could make fights at Featherweights with the likes of Garcia, Rigondeaux, Lopez, Donaire and Salido.

He's short of worthy challenges with Golden Boy

Big Mares fan, what he's done at such a young age is exceptional, however i think both Rigo and Donaire are all wrong for him and would likely beat him.

LSC and Russell could turn out to be some formidable rivals, but neither are immediate future options like those at Top Rank. I wish GBP could lure John out of his cave in Indonesia, the ****in guy is rated #1 by RING and ESPN, #2 by TBRB (Vacant Champ) and is the longest reigning title holder in the sport. Step up and take the challenge, Abner needs opponents.

    Yep.

I also think it would look good on Mares though if he fought him in Indionesia.

Gary Russell Jr and Leo Santa Cruz need to up the ante with their level of competition. I've been particularly disappointed with Russell slow progress this last 18 months.

Poce De Leon or Johnny Gonzalez would be a good step-up for Santa Cruz .

Agree with all of this. Wouldn't put it past Mares to go fight Chris John at his home base if GBP can get the fight made. He does have a mandatory defense already ordered by Sulaiman against... Robinson Castellanos and he's going to have to fight him as he wants to keep the belt. It's a real buzz kill given his last seven opponents but he's allowed an 'optional' before that has to take place, though.

Castellanos is coming off a win against Caballero but I give him next to no chance.

Yeah, it only serves to keep Mares busy. This isn't really what he's got in mind, but whatever.

Think you've been watching too much of the pudgy blown up jr welterweight version of Morales son.

    You need schooling

Castellanos is going to be next, unfortunately. Probably in Guadalajara to stay busy.
